2021 Vanderbilt Commodores Football Team
The 2021 Vanderbilt Commodores football team represented Vanderbilt University in the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Commodores played their home games at Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee and competed in the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They were led by first-year head coach Clark Lea. Previous season The 2020 team finished the COVID-19 shortened season with a record of 0–9 with an all-SEC schedule, finishing in last place in the East Division. Clark Lea
Clark Lea (born November 11, 1981) is an American football coach who is currently the head football coach at Vanderbilt. He previously served as the defensive coordinator at the University of Notre Dame from 2018 to 2020. Lea began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2006 and went on to serve as an assistant coach at South Dakota State University, Bowling Green State University, Syracuse University, and Wake Forest University. Playing career Lea started his college career playing baseball. He helped lead Birmingham Southern to the 2001 NAIA championship his freshman year. 2021 East Tennessee State Buccaneers Football Team
The 2021 East Tennessee State Buccaneers football team represented East Tennessee State University in the 2021 NCAA Division I FCS football season as a member of the Southern Conference (SoCon). The Buccaneers were led by fourth-year head coach Randy Sanders and played their home games at William B. Greene Jr. Stadium in Johnson City, Tennessee. On November 20, 2021, the Buccaneers defeated SoCon rival Mercer, clinching the Southern Conference championship. The Buccaneers also finished their regular season with an overall record of 10–1, making only the third time in program history to have won 10 games. Two human polls and a committee's selections comprise the 2021 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) football rankings, in addition to various publications' preseason polls. John Egorugwu
John Egorugwu (born May 21, 1986) is an American football inside linebackers coach for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). Egorugwu most recently served as the Linebackers coach at Vanderbilt in 2021. He has spent time coaching with other National Football League teams including the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills. Inoke Breckterfield e-NO-kay(born April 25, 1977) is an American football coach who is currently the defensive line coach at the University of Washington. He played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Toronto Argonauts (1999–2000) and Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2001–2003). He was an All-American defensive end at Oregon State University in 1998. Jovan Haye
Jovan Haye (born June 21, 1982) is the defensive ends coach for the Vanderbilt Commodores. A former American football defensive lineman, Haye was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football at Vanderbilt. Haye also played for the Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions. Early years Haye attended high school at Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Joey Lynch
Joey Lynch (born October 17, 1983) is an American football coach who is currently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Vanderbilt University after previously holding the passing game coordinator role with the team. Prior to that, he was the offensive coordinator at Colorado State University. He played college football at Ball State University, where he was also a longtime assistant coach. Playing career Lynch played quarterback at Ball State from 2003 to 2006 after being recruited by his father Bill. He never played for his father in college however, as the elder Lynch was let go after the 2002 season and Brady Hoke was named the new football head coach for the 2003 season.
