2021 UConn Huskies Baseball Team
The 2021 UConn Huskies baseball team represented the University of Connecticut in the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Huskies played their home games at Elliot Ballpark, their brand new stadium on campus in Storrs, Connecticut. The team is coached by Jim Penders, in his 18th season at UConn. The Huskies played their first season back in the Big East Conference, having departed the American Athletic Conference. They finished in first place with a 13–4 record, won the Big East tournament for the 4th time in program history, and made their 22nd appearance in an NCAA Regional. Previous season The Huskies posted an overall record of 8–5 in the Covid-19-shortened 2020 season. The season was canceled before they could open Elliot Ballpark, and so will inaugurate it in 2021. Jim Penders
James F. Penders is the coach of the UConn Huskies baseball team. Penders began his time with the Huskies in 1991 as a player on the varsity team. In his senior year, he was named a co-captain and helped to lead the Huskies to victory in the 1994 Big East Conference baseball tournament. Penders was named an assistant coach of the Huskies in 1997 and became head coach after the 2003 season. Playing years Penders was a co-captain in 1994. The Huskies finished with a 26–19 record and won the Big East Tournament before losing to Georgia Tech and in the NCAA Regionals and being eliminated. Penders finished the season batting .354 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs. Coaching career Penders was hired as a graduate assistant baseball coach before being named a full assistant in 1999. He was promoted to head coach in 2003 after Andy Baylock left the program. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered. The outfield positions are 7 (left field), 8 (center field) and 9 (right field). These numbers are shorthand designations useful in baseball scorekeeping and are not necessarily the same as the squad numbers worn on player uniforms. Dan Law Field At Rip Griffin Park
Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park, nicknamed "The Law", is the home stadium of the Texas Tech Red Raiders baseball team in Lubbock, Texas. It is located on the Texas Tech University campus, adjacent to Jones AT&T Stadium and Fuller Track. Dan Law Field was rated as one of the top three places to watch a college baseball game by ''Sports Illustrated On Campus''. Name and capacity From 1988 through 2011, the ballpark was named Dan Law Field after Alabama native, Lubbock businessman, and former Texas Tech baseball player Dan Law (1932–2019), who was instrumental in the renovation of the stadium. 2021 Texas Tech Red Raiders Baseball Team
The 2021 Texas Tech Red Raiders baseball team represented Texas Tech University during the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Red Raiders played their home games at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park as a member of the Big 12 Conference. They were led by head coach Tim Tadlock, in his 9th season at Texas Tech. On March 26, with a 16–6 win over South Florida, Tadlock became the program's second winningest coach with 318 wins.Larry Hays, who served as the program's head coach from 1987 to 2008, holds the current record for most wins with 813. The 2021 Davidson Wildcats baseball team represented Davidson College during the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season.
