2021 Stadium Super Trucks Season
The 2021 Stadium Super Trucks Series was the ninth season of the Stadium Super Trucks. The season began with the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on April 24–25 and ended at the Grand Prix of Long Beach on September 24–26. Matthew Brabham finished on the podium in each of the ten races and won twice to claim his third consecutive championship. This broke a three-way tie with Robby Gordon and Sheldon Creed for the most titles, and the former finished second in points. Drivers Schedule The Grand Prix of Long Beach, which had hosted the trucks since the inaugural season in 2013 but was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, returned for 2021. As a precaution with the pandemic ongoing, the race was moved from its traditional April slot to September. The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, also an IndyCar Series street circuit, returned to the SST schedule for the first time since 2017. The Stadium Super Trucks (SST), formerly known as Speed Energy Formula Off-Road, is an American short course off-road racing series created by off-road racer and former IndyCar and NASCAR driver Robby Gordon in 2013. Sanctioned by the United States Auto Club (USAC) in America with title sponsorship from Gordon's Speed Energy brand, the series utilizes identical off-road trucks that originally competed primarily in American football stadiums, but in 2014 began racing mostly on street circuits and road courses, often in conjunction with the IndyCar Series race schedules. From 2015 to 2021, the series also raced in Australia in support of the Supercars Championship. Jerett Brooks (born July 27, 1997) is an American racing driver. He mainly competes in short course off-road racing such as TORC: The Off-Road Championship, Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, and Championship Off-Road. He is a five-time off-road truck champion with three Pro Lite class titles in TORC (2014) and LOORRS (2016–2017) and two in LOORRS' Pro 2 division (2019–2020). Brooks has also competed in the Stadium Super Trucks and X Games. Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is a road course auto racing facility located in Troy Township, Morrow County, Ohio, United States, just outside the village of Lexington. Mid-Ohio has also colloquially become a term for the entire north-central region of the state, from south of Sandusky to the north of Columbus. The 2017 Speed Energy Stadium Super Trucks Series was the fifth season of the Stadium Super Trucks series. Paul Morris won his first series championship with a one-point advantage over Matthew Brabham. The 2013 Stadium Super Trucks Series was the inaugural season of Stadium Super Trucks competition. The series marked the revival of off-road racing in stadiums, originally created by Mickey Thompson, and reintroduced by former NASCAR driver Robby Gordon. He races full-time in the Stadium Super Trucks and has also competed in sports car and touring car racing.
