2021 Mexican Corruption Trial Referendum
Mexico's 2021 popular consultation, officially called ''Consulta Popular 2021'' by the electoral body, was held on August 1, 2021. It was organized by the National Electoral Institute (''INE'', in Spanish) and sought to consult citizens on whether to carry out "actions to undertake a process of clarification of political decisions made in the past years by political actors". It consisted of a single question: On April 6 of the same year, the ''INE'' began the organization of the consultation and, after being denied budget increases, estimated a cost of 522 to 528 million pesos, a third of the initial budget, and 57,000 polling stations to be installed, compared to the 104,667 originally planned. Truth Commission
A truth commission, also known as a truth and reconciliation commission or truth and justice commission, is an official body tasked with discovering and revealing past wrongdoing by a government (or, depending on the circumstances, non-state actors also), in the hope of resolving conflict left over from the past. Truth commissions are, under various names, occasionally set up by states emerging from periods of internal unrest, civil war, or dictatorship marked by human rights abuses. ''El Financiero'' (, "The Financial") is a Mexican national daily newspaper covering business and the financial markets. An election boycott is the boycotting of an election by a group of voters, each of whom abstains from voting. Quick count is a method for verification of election results by projecting them from a sample of the polling stations. The similar Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) is an election observation methodology that is typically based on a representative random sample of polling stations and is employed for independent verification (or challenge) of election results.
