The 2021 Memphis 901 FC season is the third season for Memphis 901 FC in the USL Championship, the second-tier professional soccer league in the United States and Canada. This article covers the period from November 2, 2020 (the day after the ultimately cancelled 2020 USL-C playoffs final) to the end of the 2021 USL-C season (tentatively scheduled for November, 2021). Memphis 901 FC
Memphis 901 FC is an American professional soccer team based in Memphis, Tennessee. Founded in 2018, the team made its debut in the USL Championship in 2019. Stadium The club currently plays on the grounds of AutoZone Park, a baseball stadium which is also home of the Memphis Redbirds of the Pacific Coast League. The club also played at Mike Rose Soccer Complex for a U.S. Open Cup game against Hartford Athletic on May 29, 2019, and for a U.S. Open Cup game against Orlando City SC on June 12, 2019. On October 18, 2022, the club announced plans for a new soccer-specific stadium with a capacity of 10,000. The stadium is planned to open in time for the 2025 USL Championship season and will be constructed at the current site of the Mid-South Coliseum, which closed in 2006. 2020 USL Championship Playoffs
The 2020 USL Championship Playoffs was the post-season championship of the 2020 USL Championship. It was the tenth edition of the USL Championship Playoffs. The playoffs began on October 10, and originally scheduled to conclude with the USL Championship Final on November 1. The Final was then cancelled the day before because several Tampa Bay Rowdies players and staff tested positive for COVID-19. The championship would not be awarded. Legion Field
Legion Field is an outdoor stadium in the southeastern United States in Birmingham, Alabama, primarily designed to be used as a venue for American football, but occasionally used for other large outdoor events. Opened in 1927, it is named in honor of the American Legion, a U.S. organization of military veterans. Dominic Oduro (born 23 January 1995) is a Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as a full-back or midfielder. Club career Early career and loan deals Oduro joined Manchester City's youth academy from the Right to Dream Academy in his native Ghana in 2011. After a successful trial, he joined Danish Superliga club AGF in January 2013 on loan for 18 months. He made his debut for the club in a 2–0 win against FC Vestsjælland on 27 July. Zach Carroll (born March 16, 1994) is an American soccer player who plays as a defender for Las Vegas Lights in the USL Championship. Career Early career Carroll attended Grand Blanc High School where he was a member of the varsity soccer team, as well as the placekicker for the football team. In 2011, Carroll was a member of the United States U-17 National Team, starting at center back for both the U-17 World Cup in Mexico, as well as the CONCACAF Tournament in Jamaica, where he won Gold. Neco Jeborie Brett (born 22 March 1992) is a Jamaican footballer who plays as a forward for USL Championship club Birmingham Legion. Jake Rufe
Jacob Rufe (born January 22, 1996) is an American soccer player who most recently played as a defender for Birmingham Legion in the USL Championship. Career College & Amateur Rufe began playing college soccer at Indiana University in 2014, but didn't make an appearances for the Hoosiers during his two seasons due to injury. In 2016, Rufe transferred to Western Michigan University, where he played for three seasons, scoring 2 goals and tallying 4 assists in 55 appearances. Anderson Asiedu (born 12 June 1996) is a Ghanaian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Hartford Athletic in the USL Championship. Early life Asiedu was born in Dormaa Ahenkro, Ghana. Following his mother's death and a short stint living with his grandmother, he lived in an orphanage. Birmingham Legion FC is an American professional soccer club based in Birmingham, Alabama, that competes in the USL Championship, the second division of American soccer. The team was established in August 2013 and played under the name Birmingham Hammers until 2018 and began their first professional season as Legion FC on March 10, 2019. El Paso Locomotive FC is an American professional association football, soccer team based in El Paso, Texas. Founded in 2018, the team made its debut in the USL Championship in 2019.
