The 2021 IIHF World Championship Final was played at the Arena Riga in Riga, Latvia, on 6 June 2021. Canada and Finland met for the fifth time in the finals, and also for the second consecutive time, with Finland having won in 2019 IIHF World Championship Final, 2019. Arena Riga
Arena Riga ( lv, Arēna Rīga) is an indoor arena in Riga, Latvia. It is primarily used for ice hockey, basketball and concerts. Arena Riga holds a maximum of 14,500 and was opened on 15 February 2006. It was built to be used as one of the venues for the 2006 IIHF World Championship, the other being Skonto Arena. The arena was designed by the Canadian company SCI Architects and Latvian firms SIA Merks and SIA Nams. History The 11,000-seat arena was constructed as a requirement for hosting the 2006 IIHF World Championship. Oliwer Kaski
Oliwer Kaski (born 4 September 1995) is a Finnish professional ice hockey defenceman who currently plays for HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Prior to turning professional, Kaski became the first Finnish-born player to play for the Western Michigan Broncos. His father Olli was also a professional ice hockey player for fifteen years, eleven of them with the Liiga's Ässät. Playing career Kaski played for Western Michigan University for two seasons, becoming the first player born in Finland to play for Western Michigan. In November 2016, his sophomore year at Western Michigan, Kaski signed with HIFK of the Finnish Elite League (Liiga). Nicholas Paul (born March 20, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League (NHL). Adam Henrique (born February 6, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre and an alternate captain for the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Sean Iain Walker (born November 13, 1994) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Connor Brown (born January 14, 1994) is a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger for the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL). Brown was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the sixth round, 156th overall, of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Maxime Comtois (born January 8, 1999) is a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger for the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Comtois was drafted by the Victoriaville Tigres third overall in the 2015 QMJHL Entry Draft.
