2021 Formula Regional European Championship
The 2021 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine was a multi-event, Formula 3 open-wheel single seater motor racing championship held across Europe. The championship featured a mix of professional and amateur drivers, competing in Formula 3 cars that conform to the FIA Formula 3 regulations for the championship. This was the third season of the championship and the first after a merger with Formula Renault Eurocup which resulted to the change of the engine supplier to Alpine. The season commenced on 17 April at Imola Circuit and concluded on 31 October at Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, after ten rounds. Swiss driver Grégoire Saucy, driving for ART Grand Prix, took the drivers' title in Round 9 at Mugello. Teams and drivers Thirteen teams had been pre-selected to the 2021 championship. Formula Regional European Championship
The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) is a FIA-certified regional European Formula 3 racing series. On 12 October 2018 it was announced that the Italian autosport regulator Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI) and karting promoter WSK would organize the inaugural year of the championship in 2019. Their bid was chosen over Renault Sport's bid with the same chassis, who attracted fewer votes from Single-Seater Commission members. Following the 2020 season, the Formula Renault Eurocup merged with the Formula Regional European Championship to become the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. The championship's first season featured eight rounds on the circuits across Europe with half of them in Italy. The driver champions receive FIA Super License points. Paul Aron
Paul Aron (born 4 February 2004) is an Estonian racing driver currently set to race in the 2023 FIA Formula 3 Championship with Prema Racing. He previously competed in the Formula Regional European Championship for Prema in 2021 and 2022, in which he ended both series in third. Aron is part of the Mercedes Junior Team. He also won the rookie cup in the 2019 Italian F4 Championship and placed third in the regular standings. Career Karting Starting in Estonia at the age of 8, Aron climbed the karting ladder as he was soon racing all over Europe but mostly in Italy. Aron won the CIK-FIA Karting European Championship in 2018. Zane Maloney
Zane Maloney (born 2 October 2003) is a Barbadian racing driver. He was the 2019 British F4 champion and finished as runner-up in the 2022 FIA Formula 3 Championship, racing for Trident. In December 2022, it was announced he was joining the Red Bull Junior Team and will be a reserve driver for the Red Bull team in 2023. Career Karting Maloney started racing in North America at the age of 12 and after multiple karting titles in Barbados and America he soon moved over to Europe to compete for Ricky Flynn Motorsport. Maloney placed 4th in the Karting European Championship, 5th in the World Championships and 3rd in the German Championship and WSK Champions Cup respectively in 2018. Léna Bühler
Léna Bühler (born 9 July 1997) is a Swiss female racing driver currently set to compete in the 2023 F1 Academy Championship, driving for ART Grand Prix. She is a full member of the Sauber Academy. Career Karting Having competed in BMX at European level in her childhood, Bühler took up racing at the relatively late age of 17. She made her karting debut in the Swiss Karting Championship in 2017, where she finished 14th. She raced karts for the next two years, finishing fourth and third in the Swiss Championship in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Hadrien David
Hadrien David (born 26 February 2004), is a French racing driver who most recently competed in the Formula Regional European Championship with R-ace GP. He was the youngest FIA Formula 4 Champion when he won the French F4 Championship in 2019, at the age of 15. Career Karting David started karting at the age of 8 on the Karting de Royan track in his hometown. He started in official competition in 2013 in the Mini-kart category and finished third in the Coupe de France, first in the Poitou-Charentes regional championship and second in the Center Region. Gabriele Minì
Gabriele Minì (born 20 March 2005) is an Italian racing driver who is scheduled to race in the 2023 FIA Formula 3 Championship with Hitech Grand Prix. He is the 2020 Italian F4 Champion, and was runner-up during the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship. Career Karting Minì started his karting career in 2012. His first karting title came in the Italian Championship in 2017 in the 60 Mini Class at the age of 12. The year after Minì mainly competed in international competitions, becoming champion in the WSK Super Master Series, beating Mercedes Academy driver Paul Aron among others, and finishing as runner-up in the CIK-FIA Karting World Championship. Thomas ten Brinke (born 23 February 2005) is a Dutch former racing driver who last competed in the 2021 Formula Regional Championship with ART Grand Prix. He previously competed in the Spanish F4 Championship with MP Motorsport. Career Karting Thomas was inspired by his fathers ventures in Rallying and Racing and started Karting competitively in 2018. Elias Seppänen (born 31 October 2003) is a Finnish racing driver currently competing in the ADAC GT Masters with MANN-FILTER Team Landgraf. Konsta Lappalainen (born 11 August 2001) is a Finnish racing driver. He is currently driving in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup for Emil Frey Racing. Jasin Ferati (born 2 August 2003) is a Swiss racing driver with Macedonian Albanian parents from Gostivar. He is the reigning Porsche Sports Cup Suisse champion, having previously competed in the Formula Regional European Championship. Career Karting Ferati made his karting debut in the Swiss Karting Championship in 2016, where he finished 13th. He then finished second in the X30 Junior class the following year, losing out to Mike Müller by 131 points. Gianluca de Castro Petecof (born 14 November 2002) is a Brazilian racing driver. He currently competes full-time in the Brazilian Stock Car Pro Series, driving the No. 101 Toyota Corolla E210 for Full Time Sports. He was champion of the Formula Regional European Championship in 2020, and has competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Campos Racing. Patrik Pasma (born 2 March 2000) is a Finnish racing driver who last competed for Evans Grand Prix in the Formula Regional Asian Championship for Evans Grand Prix. Career Formula Ford Pasma started his single seater career in an array of different Formula Ford categories, mostly in the UK but some in his home country Finland. The Walter Hayes Trophy, Finnish Formula Ford Junior Championship, Champion of Brands and Marcel Albers Memorial Trophy were some of the categories he races in.
