2021 Chilean Municipal Elections
Municipal elections were held in Chile on 15 and 16 May 2021, in conjunction with elections of members for the Constitutional Convention and regional governors. The process included the direct election of mayors and the members of the council of 345 municipalities administering 346 communes,The commune of Antártica is administered by the municipality of Cabo de Hornos. the smallest administrative division of the country. Time In Chile
Time in Chile is divided into three time zones. Most of Continental Chile uses the time offset UTC−04:00 in winter time and UTC−03:00 in summer time, while the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica region uses the time offset UTC-03:00 the whole year. Additionally, Easter Island uses the time offset UTC−06:00 in winter time and UTC−05:00 in summer time. Until 2015, Continental Chile used the time offset UTC−04:00 and Easter Island used UTC−06:00 for standard time, with daylight saving time roughly between October and March every year. Democratic Revolution () is a Chilean centre-left to left-wing political party, founded in 2012 by some of the leaders of the 2011 Chilean student protests, most notably the current Deputy Giorgio Jackson, who is also the most popular public figure of the party. Equality Party (Chile)
The Equality Party ( es, Partido Igualdad) was a left-wing political party in Chile. It was founded in 2009 by various social movements of workers, students, mortgage borrowers, townspeople and human rights organizations, among other actors. Its first president was former communist councilor of Peñalolen, Lautaro Guanca. Legally registered in 2012, it first appeared in the municipal elections of that year. Reaching 0.81% of the vote, it got the election of one councilor. For the 2013 elections, the party proclaimed Roxana Miranda as its presidential candidate. The Humanist Party ( es, Partido Humanista) is a universal humanist, progressive, and left-wing political party in Chile, founded in 1984. The party is a member of the Humanist International. In December 1990, Laura Rodríguez became the first elected representative of any Humanist Party in the world after winning a seat as part of the ''Concertación'' coalition, after Augusto Pinochet handed over power.
