The 2020–21 Sheffield United Football Club season was the club's 132nd season in existence and the club's 2nd consecutive season in the top flight of English football. In addition to the domestic league, Sheffield United participated in this season's editions of the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. Sheffield United suffered a disastrous start to the season. With just 5 points in their first 19 fixtures, Sheffield United set a record for the worst-ever Premier League start not including administrative point deductions. They also broke the Premier League record of most consecutive games without a win to start the season, with 17. Previously, the record was held by the 2012–13 Queens Park Rangers squad. Sheffield is a city in South Yorkshire, England, whose name derives from the River Sheaf which runs through it. The city serves as the administrative centre of the City of Sheffield. Phil Jagielka
Philip Nikodem Jagielka ( or ; born 17 August 1982) is an English professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for club Stoke City. Jagielka started his career with Sheffield United in 2000, where he played mainly as a central midfielder. Max Josef Lowe (born 11 May 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a full-back or defensive midfielder for Premier League club Sheffield United. He has represented England at under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-20 level. John Egan (born 20 October 1992) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for EFL Championship club Sheffield United and the Republic of Ireland national team. Christopher Paul Basham (born 20 July 1988) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder or centre back for club Sheffield United. He is best known as a pioneer of the role of the overlapping centre back (usually on the right flank), a position he developed under Chris Wilder during the 2016-17 season.
