2020–21 Segunda División Pro (women)
The 2020–21 Segunda División Pro, named Reto Iberdrola for sponsorship reasons, was the 20th season of the second highest league tier of women's football in Spain, and the second season under a new two-group format. The system was adapted for this year only to two phases (initially split into four small groups on a geographical basis, then into four groups again to decide promotion and relegation) due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain and its related restrictions, which included all matches being played in empty stadiums, and the involvement of two more teams than the usual 32 after relegation was disregarded in the previous edition, while teams still came up from the third tier. No teams were relegated into the division from the previous top level campaign, and the season also began later than usual, on 18 October 2020. Deportivo Alavés Gloriosas
Deportivo Alavés Gloriosas is a Spanish women's football team from Vitoria-Gasteiz, Álava, Basque Country, currently playing in the Liga F. It is the women's section of Deportivo Alavés. History Having begun the process of adding a women's football section to the club structure in the months prior, in summer 2017 Alavés had their new Gloriosas team installed directly into the second tier of the Spanish league setup as the result of a merger with established local club CD Gasteizko Neskak (''Vitoria Girls'') who had just completed a season competing at that level. Under the agreement, the Gasteizko Neskak senior team's players were adopted by Alavés and now play home matches at the professional club's Ciudad Deportiva José Luis Compañón (Ibaia) training ground, wearing Alavés colours. 2019–20 Primera División (women)
The 2019–20 Primera División Femenina de Fútbol was the 32nd edition of Spain's highest women's football league, the 19th since the inception of the ''Superliga Femenina''. On 6 May 2020, the Royal Spanish Football Federation announced the premature end of the league due to the COVID-19 pandemic, revoking relegations and naming Barcelona as league champions five years after their last title. Also, it was approved the expansion of the league to 18 teams for the 2020–21 season. Overview Round 9 was postponed due to a strike of the players claiming for a collective agreement to improve their work conditions. Teams Deportivo and Tacón promoted from Segunda División. Both teams made their debut in the top tier and replaced Málaga and Fundación Albacete, that were relegated as the two last qualified in the previous edition.
