2020–21 PFC CSKA Sofia Season
The 2020–21 season is CSKA Sofia's 72nd season in the Parva Liga (the top flight of Bulgarian football) and their fifth consecutive participation after their administrative relegation in the third division due to mounting financial troubles. In addition to the domestic league, CSKA Sofia participates in this season's edition of the Bulgarian Cup and UEFA Europa League. CSKA Sofia ( bg, ЦСКА София) is a Bulgarian professional association football club based in Sofia and currently competing in the country's premier football competition, the First League. ''CSKA'' is an abbreviation for ''Central Sports Club of the Army'' ( bg, Централен Спортен Клуб на Армията). Officially established on 5 May 1948, CSKA's roots date back to an army officers' club founded in 1923. The club has won a record 31 Bulgarian titles and 21 Bulgarian Cups. Jurgen Mattheij
Jurgen Mattheij (born 1 April 1993) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a centre back. Club career Born in Rotterdam, Mattheij began his professional career at Excelsior in 2011. In his eight seasons with the club, he played in 188 games and scored 9 goals. In June 2019, he joined Sparta Rotterdam before moving to CSKA Sofia a year later. Mattheij soon established himself as a key player for "the reds", becoming the team's captain. Asen Donchev (Bulgarian: Асен Дончев; born 22 October 2001) is a Bulgarian professional footballer who plays as a defender for Cherno More Varna. Career Donchev joined CSKA Sofia from the Litex academy in 2016. Thibaut Vion (born 11 December 1993) is a French professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Bulgarian First League club CSKA Sofia. He has been capped at international level playing in the U19 and U20 squads. Club career As 17 years old, Vion joined Portuguese club F.C. Porto from the youth academy of Metz. Petar Dimitrov Zanev ( bg, Петър Димитров Занев; born 18 October 1985) is a Bulgarian retired footballer who played as a left back. Club career Zanev was born in Gotse Delchev and joined the youth system of his hometown club Pirin at an early age. In early 2005 he signed with Litex Lovech.
