2020–21 Lille OSC Season
The 2020–21 season was the 77th season in the existence of Lille OSC and the club's 21st consecutive season in the top flight of French football. In addition to the domestic league, Lille participated in this season's edition of the Coupe de France and the UEFA Europa League. The season covered the period from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021. On 23 May 2021, with a win over Angers on the final day of the season, Lille were crowned league champions. The achievement was very surprising and was considered an upset, as Paris Saint-Germain had always been the favourites to win Ligue 1 for the fourth time in a row. It was Lille's fourth top-flight title in the professional era and their first since 2010–11, when Eden Hazard was named the competition's player of the year. Lille Olympique Sporting Club (), commonly referred to as LOSC, LOSC Lille or simply Lille, is a French professional football club based in Lille, Hauts-de-France that competes in Ligue 1, the top flight of French football. Lille has played its home matches since 2012 at Stade Pierre-Mauroy, the fourth-largest football stadium in France. The 50,186-capacity retractable roof venue replaced the club's previous home of Stadium Lille-Metropole. Lille was founded as a result of a merger between Olympique Lillois and SC Fives in 1944. Orestis-Spyridon Karnezis ( el, Ορέστης-Σπυρίδων Καρνέζης; born 11 July 1985) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Mike Maignan
Mike Peterson Maignan (born 3 July 1995) is a French professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club AC Milan and the France national team. Maignan came through the youth teams at Paris Saint-Germain, he was an unused substitute several times. In 2015 he joined Lille for €1 million, and became their first-choice in 2017. He was voted Ligue 1's goalkeeper of the year in 2018–19, and won the league title in 2020–21. Yusuf Yazıcı (born 29 January 1997) is a Turkish professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Süper Lig club Trabzonspor, on loan from French club Lille, and the Turkey national team. José Miguel da Rocha Fonte (born 22 December 1983) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Ligue 1 club Lille and the Portugal national team. Fonte started his professional career with Sporting CP B, moving to England with Crystal Palace in 2007.
