2020–21 Football League (Greece)
The 2020–21 Football League Greece was the second season as a third-tier professional league of the Greek football league system since its restructuring and the tenth season under the name Football League after previously being known as ''Beta Ethniki''. That was the first season after 2014–15 that the league has more than one groups. The groups are created based on geographical criteria. That was the last season of the league before their abolishment and a merger with Super League Greece 2, as a result of a new restructuring of the Greek league system. The 2020-21 season start has been delayed due to the COVID-19 second lockdown in Greece that began in November 2020. Football League Greece
The Football League ( el, Φούτμπολ Λιγκ) was the second highest professional football league in Greece since its inception in 1962 as ''Beta Ethniki'' and until 2019. It then served as a third tier after the creation of the Super League 2 as the new second tier and it was eventually abolished in 2021 when the 2021–22 Super League 2 went from a 12 team to a 36 team league, absorbing most of the clubs from the Football League. Pierikos F
S.F.K. Pierikos ( el, Σ.Φ.Κ. Πιερικός) is a Greek football club based in Katerini, Greece, part of the major multi-sport club of the same name. Their name was inspired from the State's name of Pieria. The club recently competed in the Super League 2 2021–22, at the Northern Group and got relegated to Gamma Ethniki. History of the club The foundation The club was founded on 11 April 1961 from the merger between Megas Alexandros (meaning Alexander the Great) Katerinis and Olympos Katerinis. Megas Alexandros had played in the 1st Division of Greek football in its first season ( 1959–60) but finished in the 15th position and thus relegated in the 2nd Division. Neither Megas Alexandros nor Olympos gained promotion in the following season. Unification of the two clubs has seen as the only way for the city of Katerini to have a team in the 1st Division. Katerini Stadium
Katerini Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Katerini, Greece. It is used for football matches and is the home stadium of Pierikos. On 19 July 2015 it hosted the final of the 2015 UEFA European Under-19 Championship between Spain and Russia. The Municipal Stadium of Katerini (or better than the 1st Municipal Athletic Center of Katerini), which was renamed so recently, since until recently it was named ''National Stadium of Katerini'', is located in the ''District of National Stadium'' in the city of Katerini. Katerini ( el, Κατερίνη, ''Kateríni'', ) is a city and municipality in northern Greece, the capital city of Pieria regional unit in Central Macedonia, Greece. Kalamaria Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Kalamaria, a district of Thessaloniki, in Greece. It is currently used mostly for Association football, football matches and is the home stadium of Apollon Kalamarias F.C., Apollon Kalamarias.
