David Beasley
David Muldrow Beasley (born February 26, 1957) is an American politician and the Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme. A member of the Republican Party, he served one term as the 113th Governor of South Carolina from 1995 until 1999 before losing reelection to Democrat Jim Hodges. He also served as a state representative from 1981 until 1995. United Nations Decade Of Family Farming
Endorsed in December 2017, the United Nations Decade of Family Farming 2019-2028 seeks to place family farming at the center of national public policies and investments. In declaring this decade, the United Nations General Assembly recognized the importance of family farming in reducing poverty and improving global food security (Resolution A/RES/72/239). International Year Of Plant Health
In December 2018, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a Resolution declaring 2020 as the International Year of Plant Health (IYPH). The purpose of the IYPH was to raise global awareness on how protecting plant health can help end hunger, reduce poverty, protect the environment, and boost economic development. Due to disruption of the planned activities during 2020, some IYPH activities have been continued into the next year, including the declaration by the United States Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service making April 2021 the Invasive Plant Pest and Disease Awareness Month for the US. Heidi Mendoza
Heidi Macaraan Lloce-Mendoza (born November 3, 1962) is a former Undersecretary General for the United Nations Office of Internal Oversight. A Filipino public official, Mendoza was commissioner and officer-in-charge of the Commission on Audit of the Philippines from 2011 to 2015. On October 6, 2015, Mendoza was nominated by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to head the United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services replacing Canadian Carman Lapointe. Mendoza has also served as an external auditor for the Food and Agriculture Organization, World Health Organization and International Labour Organization. The United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) is an independent office in the United Nations Secretariat whose mandate is to "assist the Secretary-General in fulfilling his internal oversight responsibilities in respect of the resources and staff of the Organization."
