2020 Tennessee State Senate Election
The 2020 Tennessee State Senate elections was held on November 3, 2020, to elect 16 of the 33 seats for the Tennessee's State Senate. The elections coincided with the Presidential, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and State House elections. Republicans lost District 20, which is in the outskirts of Nashville. Primary elections were held on August 6, 2020, with the exception of presidential primaries held on March 3 of that year. Retirements One incumbent did not run for re-election in 2020. Tennessee State Senate
The Tennessee Senate is the upper house of the U.S. state of Tennessee , Tennessee's state legislature, which is known formally as the Tennessee General Assembly. The Tennessee Senate has the power to pass resolutions concerning essentially any issue regarding the state, country, or world. The Senate also has the power to create and enforce its own rules and qualifications for its members. The Senate shares these powers with the Tennessee House of Representatives. The Senate alone has the power to host impeachment proceeding and remove impeached members of office with a 2/3 majority. Tennessee's 10th Senate district is one of 33 districts in the Tennessee Senate. It has been represented by Republican Todd Gardenhire since 2012, succeeding Democrat Andy Berke. Becky Duncan Massey is a Republican member of the Tennessee Senate for the 6th district, encompassing Knoxville and Knox County. Biography Early life and education Becky Duncan Massey was born on January 2, 1955. Jon Lundberg
Jon Lundberg (born June 26, 1961 in Royal Oak, Michigan) is an American politician and a Republican member of the Tennessee State Senate for the 4th district. He was first elected to the 105th Tennessee General Assembly (2007–2008). He serves as deputy speaker of the Senate and first vice chairman of the Education Committee, a member of the Finance and Judiciary Committee. Arthur "Art" Morton Swann (born October 17, 1952) is an American politician who is a Republican member of the Tennessee Senate, representing the 2nd district since December 1, 2017.
