2020 Men's EuroHockey Club Trophy I
The 2020 Men's EuroHockey Club Trophy I would have been the 44th edition of the EuroHockey Club Trophy I, Europe's secondary men's club field hockey tournament organized by the European Hockey Federation and the first edition since it was renamed from the EuroHockey Club Trophy. It would be held in Vienna, Austria from 29 May to 1 June 2020. The tournament was canceled on 23 March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grunwald Poznań (field Hockey)
WKS Grunwald Poznań is a Polish field hockey club, a section of the wider multi-sports club, from Poznań. It is historically one of the most successful clubs in the country and regularly competes in European competitions. History The section traces its roots to inter-war military club WKS Poznań, champions of Poland in 1935, 1936 and 1938. However the courts have decided that these titles are not formally recognised as belonging to WKS Grunwald. The section was created in January 1952. At the turn of 1951/1952, the Board of the Union Sports Club Włókniarz Poznań (third place in the Polish Championships in 1950) made a proposal to the Board of the Garrison Military Sports Club (GWKS) Poznań to take over the field and ice hockey sections, which it itself was unable to maintain. Men's EuroHockey Club Trophy I
The EuroHockey Club Trophy I is an annual men's field hockey competition organised by the EHF for European hockey clubs. It is the second most prestigious European club competition, being one tier below the top men's European club competition the Euro Hockey League. In that sense, the ECT is hockey's equivalent of the UEFA Europa League. Format The tournament features 8 clubs from EHF member countries. Qualification Each year one of the 8 available league places is allocated to an EHF member country's national association. The clubs admitted are the clubs of those nations who finished ranked third to sixth in the previous year's Trophy II; the clubs of those two nations from the previous year's Trophy I; plus the clubs of those two nations promoted from the previous year's Challenge I. Cardiff & Met Hockey Club, previously known as Cardiff & UWIC Hockey Club, is a professional field hockey club based at the Sport Wales National Centre in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, Wales.
