2020 Football West Season
The 2020 Football West season was the seventh season since the National Premier Leagues was established in Western Australia. All NPL and grassroots competitions were suspended for one month due to the impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia, effective 18 March to 14 April, and further extended until early July. The NPL, NPL Women's and Men's State League competitions resumed from 3 July, with grassroots football having recommenced from 21 June. Pre-season changes League Tables 2020 National Premier Leagues WA Only the first round of the double round-robin season was played before the competition was suspended due to restrictions relating to the coronavirus pandemic. The season resumed on 3 July, with results from the matches played in March no longer counting, and promotion/relegation being suspended. National Premier Leagues Western Australia
The National Premier Leagues Western Australia is a regional Australian semi-professional soccer league comprising teams from Western Australia. The league name is often abbreviated to NPL Western Australia or NPL WA. As a subdivision of the National Premier Leagues, the league is the highest level of the Western Australian league system (Level 2 of the overall Australian league system). The competition is administered by Football West, the governing body of the sport in the state. In 2014, the league – formerly known as the Football West State League Premier Division – was rebranded into what exists today. 2020 National Premier Leagues
The 2020 National Premier Leagues was the eighth season of the Australian National Premier Leagues football competition. The league competition was played by eight separate state and territory member federations, namely the ACT, NSW, Northern NSW, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia. Effects of the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic The season commenced in February, with the first games played in the Queensland competition. Western Knights SC
Western Knights Soccer Club is an Australian soccer club currently playing in the Football West State League Division 1 in Perth, Western Australia. Its home ground is Nash Field, in the Town of Mosman Park. Since 2018, the club expanded its junior program to include Len Packham Reserve in the City of Cockburn as well as Nash Field. History Western Knights was established by Croatian immigrants in the state of Western Australia under the name of Metropolitan in 1968, joining the semi-professional Second Division (third tier) the following year as Croatia. Rockingham City FC
Rockingham City FC is an association football club based in Rockingham, Western Australia established in 1970. Based at the Lark Hill Sports Complex which they moved to in 2008. Rockingham City also hosts junior teams starting at Under 6's, senior amateur and women's teams. The club will compete in 2022 in the Football West State League Division 1. History Originally based at the Rockingham City park oval, the team moved to the then new venue of Dowling Street in the mid to late 1970s. Perth Glory FC Youth
Perth Glory Under-23s is the youth system of Perth Glory Football Club based in Perth, Western Australia, Australia. The academy teams play in the Y-League and National Premier Leagues (U20, U18, U15). Perth Glory Youth is the highest level squad within the setup. They play in the National Premier Leagues and play the majority of their home games at Hartfield Park (known for sponsorship reasons as Crazy Domains Stadium) in Forrestfield. Youth team history Perth Glory first entered a youth team in the 2002 Soccer West Coast Premier League as Future Glory. The team coached by Frank Arok finished seventh out of 12 teams in the league. Inglewood United Football Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in Inglewood, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The club competes in the National Premier Leagues Western Australia. The club is based at Inglewood Stadium. Inglewood have won the State League Premier League once, in 1996, and the State Cup twice, in 1977 and 1999. Perth RedStar Football Club is an Australian soccer club from Joondalup, Western Australia currently playing in the National Premier Leagues Western Australia and National Premier Leagues WA Women. Cockburn City SC
Cockburn City Soccer Club is an Australian soccer club currently playing in the National Premier Leagues Western Australia. They play their home games at Dalmatinac Park and train at Beale Park. History Cockburn City Soccer Club's origin goes back to 1929 when they were known as Spearwood Rovers, and after the 1964 season they amalgamated with Britannia (who had renamed a year earlier from Fremantle City) to become Cockburn United. A few months earlier, some of the Spearwood Rovers club had joined forces with Balkans Dalmatinac, to create Fremantle Dalmatinac (who were renamed Spearwood Dalmatinac in 1974). The two clubs enjoyed success in the period after, with facilities close to each other at Dalmatinac Park and Beale Park. Balcatta Etna Football Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in Balcatta, Perth, Western Australia. They compete in the National Premier Leagues Western Australia. History In the first year, 1978, playing at the new home ground, Reader Reserve in Hector St, Mt Yokine. Etna acquired fifth position on the ladder.
