2020 Dallas Wings Season
The 2020 Dallas Wings season was the franchise's 23rd season in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) and the 5th season for the franchise in Dallas. The regular season started on July 26, 2020, versus the Atlanta Dream. This will be the second season under head coach Brian Agler. This WNBA season will have an all-time high 36 regular-season games. However, the plan for expanded games was put on hold on April 3, when the WNBA postponed its season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Under a plan approved on June 15, the league is scheduled to hold a shortened 22-game regular season at IMG Academy, without fans present, starting on July 24. The Wings started the season strongly, winning two of their first three games. Brian Agler
Brian Agler (born August 2, 1958) is an American women's professional basketball coach. He previously coached the Dallas Wings from 2019 to 2020. He also had previously been head coach of the Seattle Storm and the Los Angeles Sparks, each of whom he led to a championship in 2010 and 2016 respectively. During his coaching career, Agler has guided young stars like Candace Parker, Nneka Ogwumike, Alana Beard, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Tayler Hill, Liz Cambage, Megan Gustafson, and Arike Ogunbowale. Early years Agler attended college at Wittenberg University in Ohio, where he cheered on the Tigers win the 1977 Division III NCAA Championship as a point guard. He graduated in 1980. Tyasha Pearl Desiree Harris (born May 1, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball for the South Carolina Gamecocks. Harris was selected to third team All-American by the Associated Press (AP) and by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) in 2020. 2021 WNBA Draft
The 2021 WNBA draft was the WNBA's draft for the 2021 WNBA season. A draft lottery was held on December 4, 2020, and the New York Liberty were awarded the first overall pick once again in the draft. Skylar Kierra Diggins-Smith (born August 2, 1990) is an American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Diggins was drafted third overall by the Tulsa Shock in the 2013 WNBA draft. In high school, she was the National Gatorade Player of the Year and the Gatorade Female Athlete of the Year. Diggins played point guard for Notre Dame, where she led Notre Dame to three consecutive Final Fours and two consecutive NCAA championship appearances. Morgan Bertsch (born April 20, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Chicago Sky of the WNBA. She was drafted by the Dallas Wings in the 2019 WNBA Draft. She played college basketball at UC Davis. College career Bertsch played her collegiate basketball for the UC Davis Aggies. Megan Gustafson (born December 13, 1996) is an American basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Gustafson was drafted in the second round (17th overall) by the Dallas Wings in the 2019 WNBA draft, but was released before the start of the season.
