2020 CEBL Season
The 2020 CEBL season was the second season of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). It was played from July 25 to August 9 at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario. The season was scheduled to take place from May 7 to August 6, with the championship being played in Edmonton from August 14 to 16. On April 15, the season was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A shortened 2020 season tournament, branded as the CEBL Summer Series, was held at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines. A single round robin was played to eliminate one team, followed by a six-team single-elimination playoff. All games were played behind closed doors with no spectators admitted. The Edmonton Stingers defeated the Fraser Valley Bandits in the final to win their first CEBL title. Canadian Elite Basketball League
The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) is a men's professional minor league basketball organization. The CEBL was founded in 2017 and began play in 2019 with six teams competing all owned and operated by ownership group Canadian Basketball Ventures. The league currently consists of ten teams from six different provinces, with four being from Ontario, two from Alberta and one each from the provinces of British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Quebec, making the CEBL the largest professional sports league based entirely in Canada. CEBL teams play twenty regular-season games from May to August. The season culminates in the six-team playoffs which include a final four Championship Weekend where the league's champion is crowned. Hamilton Honey Badgers
The Brampton Honey Badgers are a Canadian professional basketball team based in Brampton, Ontario, that competes in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. They play their games at the CAA Centre. The team was founded in 2018 as the Hamilton Honey Badgers and played at the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, Ontario from their inaugural season in 2019 until 2022. History On May 2, 2018, the Canadian Elite Basketball League announced Hamilton, Ontario, as one of the original six teams for its inaugural season beginning May 2019. On June 12, 2018, at a press conference the CEBL announced the logo and name of its Hamilton franchise as the Hamilton Honey Badgers, a nickname inspired by the world's most fearless animal. Brianté Weber
Brianté Weber (born December 29, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for ONVO Büyükçekmece of the Turkish Basketball Super League (BSL). He played college basketball for the VCU Rams. High school career Weber attended Great Bridge High School where he averaged 17 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals per game as a senior, earning the All-Southeastern District Defensive Player of the Year award during his junior and senior seasons. College career In his college career with the VCU Rams, he was designated to the Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team on multiple occasions, and also earned the title as the conference's Defensive Player of the Year for three straight seasons. Lloyd Pandi
Lloyd Kanda Pandi (born December 10, 1999) is a Canadian professional basketball player for Darüşşafaka of the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL) and the Basketball Champions League (BCL). He played university basketball for Carleton. University career In his debut for Carleton, Pandi had 18 points to help defeat Waterloo 110-54, leading all Carleton starters with 22 minutes played. In his debut season, Pandi started 17 games out of the season's 22 games, eventually becoming a national champion with the Ravens as well as being named the U Sports Rookie of the Year. Marcus Jerome Capers (born December 21, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for the London Lightning of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada). Junior Carlisle Cadougan (born May 7, 1990) is a Canadian professional basketball player for the Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). Thomas Scrubb
Thomas Ryan Scrubb (born September 26, 1991 in Richmond, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional basketball player for Monbus Obradoiro of the Spanish Liga ACB. He played university basketball for the Carleton Ravens. University career After playing at Vancouver College high school, Scrubb enrolled at Carleton University in 2009, and sat out the 2009–10 season. Playing alongside his brother Philip Scrubb, he won five straight CIS National Championships with the Ravens. Trae Bell-Haynes (born September 5, 1995) is a Canadian basketball player for Budućnost VOLI of the Montenegrin First League, the ABA League and the EuroCup. He played college basketball for the Vermont Catamounts.
