2019–20 Úrvalsdeild Karla (basketball)
The 2019–20 Úrvalsdeild karla was the 69th season of the Úrvalsdeild karla (basketball), Úrvalsdeild karla, the top tier men's basketball league in Iceland. The season started on 3 October 2019. On 13 March 2020, with each team having one game left, the season was postponed for at least four weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, coronavirus pandemic in the country. On 18 March, the rest of the season was canceled. Fjölnir men's basketball, Fjölnir was relegated and Stjarnan men's basketball, Stjarnan was named divisional champions for having the best record at the time of the cancelation but no national champions would be named for the season. Competition format The participating teams first played a conventional round-robin schedule with every team playing each opponent once home and once away for a total of 22 games. Grindavík Men's Basketball
The Grindavík men's basketball team, commonly known as Grindavík or UMFG for short, is the men's team of the basketball department of Ungmennafélag Grindavíkur multi-sport club, based in the town of Grindavík in Iceland. Garðabær
Garðabær () is a municipality in the Capital Region of Iceland. History Garðabær is a growing town in the Capital Region. It is the sixth largest town in Iceland with a population of 13,872 (Sept 1, 2013). The site of Garðabær has been inhabited since Iceland was first settled in the 9th century. Landnámabók, the Book of Settlement, tells of two farms on the site of Garðabær: Vífilsstaðir and Skúlastaðir. Einar Árni Jóhannsson
Einar Árni Jóhannsson (born 8 January 1977) is an Icelandic basketball coach. He won the Icelandic men's championship in 1998 with Njarðvík as an assistant to Friðrik Ingi Rúnarsson, and in 2006 as Njarðvík's head coach. He won the Icelandic Men's Basketball Cup in 2005 with Njarðvík and was named the Úrvalsdeild karla Coach of the Year in 2007. Coaching career Einar served as an assistant coach to Njarðvík's men's team from 1997 to 2000 and from December 2003 to the end of the 2003–04 season. In April 2015, Einar signed a three-year contract to coach Þór Þorlákshöfn. On February 17, 2018, Þór announced that Einar would leave his post as head coach at the seasons end and would be replaced by assistant coach Baldur Þór Ragnarsson. Njarðvík () is a town in southwestern Iceland, on the peninsula of Reykjanes. As of 2009, its population was 4,400. Ingi Þór Steinþórsson
Ingi Þór Steinþórsson (born 9 May 1972) is an Icelandic professional basketball coach. He last coached Úrvalsdeild karla club KR. As head coach, Ingi Þór has won the Icelandic men's national championship and the women's national championship three times each. He was named Úrvalsdeild karla Coach of the Year in 2010, when he won the Úrvalsdeild karla title with the Snæfell while also being named Úrvalsdeild kvenna Coach of the Year three times, in 2014–2016, when he led Snæfell women's team to a three-peat. Ingi Þór served as an assistant coach at KR from 1998 to 1999 and 2008–2009, helping the club win the national championship in 2009. The KR men's basketball team, commonly known as KR or KR Basket, is a professional basketball club based in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is the men's basketball department of Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur (English: Reykjavík Football Club) multi-sport club. Keflavík

Borce Ilievski (born August 3, 1972) is a Macedonian-Icelandic professional basketball coach. In 2019 he was named the Úrvalsdeild karla Coach of the Year after guiding ÍR to the Úrvalsdeild finals. Israel Martín Concepción (born 16 October 1974) is a Spanish professional basketball coach for Tindastóll of the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild karla. Coaching career Martín was hired as the head coach of Tindastóll in 2014. He became the fourth foreign born coach to guide his team to the Úrvalsdeild karla finals when he led Tindastóll to then finals in 2015 where they lost to KR. In May 2015, Martín was hired as the head coach of Bakken Bears of the Danish Basketligaen.
