2019–20 La Liga
The 2019–20 La Liga season, also known as LaLiga Banco Santander, Santander for sponsorship reasons, was the 89th since its establishment. The season began on 16 August 2019 and was originally scheduled to conclude on 24 May 2020. FC Barcelona, Barcelona were the two-time defending champions, after winning their 26th title in the previous season. CA Osasuna, Osasuna, Granada CF, Granada and RCD Mallorca, Mallorca joined as the promoted clubs from the 2018–19 Segunda División. They replaced Rayo Vallecano, SD Huesca, Huesca and Girona FC, Girona, who were relegated to the 2019–20 Segunda División. On 12 March 2020, both La Liga and the Segunda División were suspended for at least two weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain, COVID-19 pandemic. The Campeonato Nacional de Liga de Primera División, commonly known simply as Primera División in Spain, and as La Liga in English-speaking countries and officially as LaLiga Santander for sponsorship reasons, stylized as LaLiga, is the men's top professional football division of the Spanish football league system. Administered by the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional, it is contested by 20 teams, with the three lowest-placed teams at the end of each season being relegated to the Segunda División and replaced by the top two teams and a play-off winner in that division. Club Gimnàstic de Tarragona, commonly known as Gimnàstic Tarragona or sometimes just Nàstic, is a Spanish sports club based in Tarragona, in the autonomous community of Catalonia. Club de Fútbol Fuenlabrada, S.A.D. is a football club based in Fuenlabrada, Community of Madrid, Spain, that currently competes in Primera División RFEF – Group 1, the third tier of the Spanish league system.
