The 2019–20 New Jersey Devils season was the 46th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 11, 1974, and 38th season since the franchise relocated from Colorado prior to the 1982–83 NHL season. For the second time in three years, the Devils received the first overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and selected Jack Hughes first overall. The season was suspended by the league officials on March 12, 2020, after several other professional and collegiate sports organizations followed suit as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. On May 26, the NHL regular season was officially declared over with the remaining games being cancelled and the Devils missed the playoffs for the second straight year, as well as the seventh time in the past eight seasons. Metropolitan Division
The National Hockey League's Metropolitan Division (often referred to simply as the "Metro Division") was formed in 2013 as one of the two divisions in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference as part of a league realignment. Kevin Rooney (born May 21, 1993) is an American professional ice hockey forward for the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Undrafted, Rooney played collegiate hockey with Providence College of the Hockey East and helped the Friars win the 2015 National Collegiate Athletic Association championship. After his senior year as captain of the Friars in the 2015–16 season, Rooney made his professional debut with the Albany Devils of the American Hockey League on an amateur try-out on March 29, 2016. Gilles Senn
Gilles Senn (born 1 March 1996) is a Swiss professional ice hockey goaltender for HC Davos of the National League (NL). Senn was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, he moved to North America in 2019, mainly playing with New Jersey's American Hockey League affiliate. He made his NHL debut that year, playing two games for the Devils. Internationally Senn has been named to the Swiss national team for several tournaments, but has not played in any games. The 2019 NHL Entry Draft was the 57th NHL Entry Draft. The draft was held on June 21–22, 2019 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. The NHL Entry Draft, originally known as the NHL Amateur Draft, is a collective meeting in which the franchises of the National Hockey League (NHL) systematically select the exclusive rights to available amateur players who meet the eligibility requirements to play professional hockey in the NHL.
