2019–20 Hong Kong Premier League
The 2019–20 Hong Kong Premier League (also known as the BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League for sponsorship reasons) was the sixth season of the Hong Kong Premier League, the top division of Hong Kong football. Kitchee became the champions for the fourth time. Igor Sartori and Serges Déblé were the joint top goalscorers with 6 goals. Tai Po and Yuen Long self-relegated to the Hong Kong First Division. Effects of the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic Due to the 2020 coronavirus pandemic in Hong Kong, the HKFA announced on 16 April 2020 that all the HKPL matches after 18 March 2020 will be postponed and the 2019–20 season will be resumed not earlier than mid-August, with an aim to finish by early November this year. Kitchee SC
Kitchee Sports Club (; ; ) is a Hong Kong professional Association football, football club based in Kowloon. It was founded in 1931 and currently competes in the Hong Kong Premier League. The club has won championships in Hong Kong 11 times, including 6 Hong Kong First Division titles and 5 Hong Kong Premier League titles. It also won the Hong Kong Senior Challenge Shield, Hong Kong Senior Shield 7 times and the Hong Kong FA Cup 6 times. In the last 10 years, Kitchee won over than 50% of all possible trophies competed in Hong Kong. Hong Kong First Division League
The Hong Kong First Division League () is the second-highest division in the Hong Kong football league system. Established in 1908, it is the third oldest in Asia. The league was formerly the highest division in Hong Kong until the formation of the Hong Kong Premier League in 2014. Since 1908, a total of 29 clubs have been crowned champions of the Hong Kong football system. South China are the most successful club, having won 41 times since their first participation in 1941. Competition format Each team plays the other teams in the division twice, one home and one away game. The ticket profits go to the home team. If there are two matches in the same stadium on the day, the profits are shared between the two home teams. Sham Shui Po Sports Ground () is public sports ground located in Cheung Sha Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It opened on 9 January 1988. Tai Po Sports Ground
Tai Po Sports Ground () is a sports ground located in Tai Po, New Territories, Hong Kong. It was the home stadium of Hong Kong Premier League club Tai Po. History Tai Po Sports Ground staged its first ever Hong Kong First Division game on 30 September 2006, when Tai Po played South China. Despite losing 2–3, all 2,020 tickets for the match were sold out. After the game, the stadium was determined to be unsuitable for future First Division games. Refurbishment work begun in 2007 to upgrade the facilities, including refurbishing the changing rooms, building corporate boxes, installing new goal posts and replanting the grass, such that Tai Po would be allowed play all of their home games during the 2007-08 season at the stadium. Lee Man Football Club () is a Hong Kong professional football (soccer), football club based in Tseung Kwan O, which currently competes in the Hong Kong Premier League. The club is owned by Lee & Man Paper, Lee & Man Chemical. Southern District Recreation & Sports Assn Ltd (), commonly known as Southern and currently known for sponsorship reasons as Kwoon Chung Southern, is a professional football club based in Southern District, Hong Kong. They currently compete in the Hong Kong Premier League. History Southern District entered the newly formed Hong Kong Third District Division during the 2002–03 season. Hoi King Sports Association () is a Hong Kong football club which currently competes in the Hong Kong First Division. History Founded in 2015, the club's name is derived from its founders Fung Hoi Man and Lo King Yau.
