2019–20 FIS Cross-Country World Cup
The 2019–20 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was the 39th official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and women. The season began on 29 November 2019 in Ruka, Finland and concluded on 8 March 2020 in Oslo, Norway. The Sprint Tour, a stage event scheduled in Quebec City and Minneapolis on 14–17 March 2020 was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The same reason forced the cancellation of World Cup scheduled in Canmore on 20–22 March 2020, including mixed relay. Alexander Bolshunov
Alexander Alexandrovich Bolshunov (russian: Александр Александрович Большунов, also '' tr.'' Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Bolshunov; born 31 December 1996) is a Russian cross-country skier and two-time winner of the 14th and 15th Tour de Ski. Bolshunov is a nine-time Olympic medalist, three of which are gold, and is also the first male post-Soviet Russian World Cup champion, winning the overall World Cup in 2020 and 2021. Career 2013–17: Twofold U23 World Champion Bolshunov was born in Podyvotye in the Bryansk Oblast, located just several kilometres from the Russia-Ukraine border. International Ski Federation
The ''Fédération internationale de ski et de snowboard'' (FIS; en, International Ski and Snowboard Federation) is the highest international governing body for skiing and snowboarding. Founded on 2 February 1924 in Chamonix, France during the inaugural Winter Olympic Games, the FIS is responsible for the Olympic disciplines of Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding. The FIS is also responsible for setting the international competition rules. The organization has a membership of 132 national ski associations, and is based in Oberhofen am Thunersee, Switzerland. Håvard Solås Taugbøl
Håvard Solås Taugbøl (born 20 August 1993) is a Norwegian cross-country skier. He competed in four events at the 2011 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival, then three events at both the 2012 and 2013 Junior World Championships, winning a bronze and a silver medal in the relay. He made his World Cup debut in December 2013 in the Davos sprint, also collecting his first World Cup points with a 21st place. In his next World Cup outing, in March 2014, he finished 11th in the Lahti sprint. In 2014–15 he improved to a 7th place in December 2014 in Davos and 4th place in March 2015 in Lahti, both in sprints. He represents the sports club Lillehammer SK. Sjur Røthe (born 2 July 1988) is a Norwegian cross-country skier. He is a three-time World champion. Career He made his World Cup debut in March 2009 in Trondheim, but did not finish the race, and collected his first World Cup points in November 2009 in Beitostølen, with an eighteenth place. A fifteenth place in a 4 × 10 km relay race followed. He represents the sports club Voss IL, and lives in Oslo. He was diagnosed with Bekhterev's disease. Hans Christer Holund
Hans Christer Holund (born 25 February 1989) is a Norwegian cross-country skier who represents Lyn. Holund won the 10 km classical at Junior World Championships in 2008, and debuted in the FIS Cross-Country World Cup in Lahti on 8 March 2009. At the Norwegian National Championships in 2016, Holund was on the SFK Lyn team with Jonas Udjus Frorud and Simen Hegstad Krüger that won the 3 × 10 km relay. Emil Iversen (born 12 August 1991) is a Norwegian Cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skier who represents IL Varden. He is 2019 World Champion in team sprint and 4 × 10 km relay. Athletic career ;2010/11 Iversen was junior world champion in the relay in 2011 with Sindre Bjørnestad Skar, Mathias Rundgreen and Erik Bergfall Brovold. Iivo Niskanen
Iivo Henrik Niskanen (born 12 January 1992) is a Finnish cross-country skier who has competed in the FIS Cross-Country World Cup since 2011. He is a three-time Olympic champion. Career Iivo Niskanen made his individual World Cup debut on 12 March 2011, when he became 69th in a 20 km skiathlon in Lahti, Finland. He had his breakthrough at the international level when he won the 15-kilometre classic race at the 2014 under-23 World Championships in Val di Fiemme on 30 January 2014. He won the race with a 17.4 seconds margin to Sergey Ustiugov. Only three days after he won the gold medal at the under-23 World Championships, he became 8th in a 15 km classic World Cup race in Toblach, Italy. Richard Jouve
Richard Jouve (born 25 October 1994) is a French cross-country skier who has competed since 2015. He won the 2021-22 Sprint World Cup as the first Frenchman to win a discipline globe at the FIS Cross-Country World Cup. Career Jouve, having competed in only three previous World Cup races, placed 3rd in the freestyle sprint at Lahti in 2015. In 2016, at Planica he again placed third, finishing behind Federico Pellegrino and countryman Baptiste Gros. In the team sprint the next day, Jouve and Valentin Chauvin placed third again behind Gros and Renaud Jay to end a strong weekend for the French.
