Coolock
Coolock () is a large suburban area, centred on a village, on Dublin city's Northside (Dublin), Northside in Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Coolock is crossed by the Santry River, a prominent feature in the middle of the district, with a linear park and ponds. BT Young Scientist
The BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition, commonly called the Young Scientist Exhibition, is an Irish annual school students' science competition that has been held in the Royal Dublin Society, Dublin, Ireland, every January since the competition was founded by Tom Burke and Tony Scott in 1965. This Competition The purpose of the competition is to encourage interest in science in secondary schools. For the 51st year of the competition in 2016, there were over 2,000 entries, from 396 schools which was the highest number ever, 550 of which were selected for the Exhibition at the RDS. Students apply to participate in the competition. Their science project entries are evaluated by judges and about one-third of applicants are accepted to participate in the public exhibition. Students are allocated exhibition stands in an exhibition hall where they set up their projects for viewing by the public. Roosky
Roosky, Ruskey, or Rooskey () is a village on the River Shannon in the northern midlands of Ireland, near the point where counties Leitrim, Longford, and Roscommon meet. The N4 road from Dublin to Sligo passes by the Leitrim side of the village. History In 1798 the local rebels defeated the army of General Lake on the shores of Lough Bofin as part of the 1798 rebellion. There was also a 'Pleasure House' on the shores of the same lake, including a man-made beach only accessible to people from the Anglo-Irish Protestant class, which was later burned down. The Protestant church, in the centre of the village, was also attacked at this time. Roosky was a lively market village in the mid 20th Century. The bridge was the scene of conflict during the Irish Civil War in 1922 and was also an important focal point for the National Farmers Association strike in 1967. Indiependence
INDIEPENDENCE is a festival "weekender" which takes place on the outskirts of Mitchelstown in northern County Cork, typically on the August Bank Holiday weekend. The festival features a variety of artists as well as comedy, spoken word, a small cinema and other attractions. INDIE, as it is known, has been shortlisted as one of the best small festivals in Europe several times as well as winning awards within Ireland. Background INDIEPENDENCE first started as a free festival in the town square in Mitchelstown, running as such in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Over these years artists such as The Frank & Walters, Gemma Hayes, The Republic of Loose, The Sultans of Ping, Delorentos, Director and The Blizzards performed at the single stage event. James Heffernan (Irish Politician)
James Heffernan (born 3 October 1979) is a former Irish Labour Party (Ireland), Labour Party politician. Background He is from a Limerick hurling family, with his father and brother, both called Pat, having played for the county.
