2019 In Botswana
Botswana held a general election in October 2019. Though it was more competitive than previous elections, it resulted in a victory for the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) and won an addition term for President Mokgweetsi Masisi. Botswana saw an escalation in the rivalry between Masisi and his predecessor Ian Khama, with Khama leaving the Botswana Democratic Party to support the Botswana Patriotic Front and the Umbrella for Democratic Change. Following the BDP's victory, opposition leaders challenged the results of the election. The Sewelô diamond was discovered in April 2019, and two other diamonds, the Okavango Blue and the Lesedi La Rona, were unveiled in the same month. 2019 Botswana General Election
General elections were held in Botswana on 23 October 2019 to elect MPs and local government councillors. Despite a high profile split in the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) in May 2019 when former President Ian Khama left the party and switched his support to the new Botswana Patriotic Front, the BDP's vote share increased to almost 53% as the party won 38 of the 57 elected seats in the National Assembly, a gain of one compared to the 2014 elections. Terence Rannowane
Terence Rannowane is a Botswana judge who has served as the Chief Justice of Botswana since 2018. Career Rannowane obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Botswana in 1990, and he obtained a Master of Laws from the University of Warwick in 2003. He began his career as a Magistrate Grade II in 1990. He was appointed Chairman of the Botswana National Parole Board in 2004 and held the position until 2018. He became a Regional Magistrate in 2005. He was appointed to the High Court of Botswana in 2008. Elephants are the largest existing land animals. Three living species are currently recognised: the African bush elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant. They are the only surviving members of the family Elephantidae and the order Proboscidea. The order was formerly much more diverse during the Pleistocene, but most species became extinct during the Late Pleistocene epoch. Avani is a small village in Mulabaagilu taluk, Kolara district in Karnataka, India, about ten miles from Kolar Gold Fields. David Bright (football Manager)
David Bright (13 June 1956 – 25 January 2021) was a Botswana football coach. Biography He was considered to be one of Botswana’s most successful coaches. A former army major, Bright was often referred to by his former military rank. On 5 February 1992, Bright joined Mogoditshane Fighters in the Botswana First Division. During his 13 year spell, he led the team to three consecutive Botswana Premier League titles between 1999 and 2001. Bright has also managed Engen Santos, Bay United, Gaborone United and Bay United. Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) or hoof-and-mouth disease (HMD) is an infectious and sometimes fatal viral disease that affects cloven-hoofed animals, including domestic and wild bovids.
