BET Awards 2019
The 19th BET Awards were held on June 23, 2019 at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony celebrated achievements in entertainment and honors music, sports, television, and movies. Cardi B received the most nominations with seven, and won the most awards with two, including for Album of the Year. On May 29, 2019, it was announced that the ceremony would be hosted for the first time by actress Regina Hall. On June 13, 2019, it was announced that special awards would be presented to Mary J. Blige, who received the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award; Tyler Perry, who was given the Ultimate Icon Award; and Nipsey Hussle, who was posthumously honored with the Humanitarian Award. All Africa Music Awards
All Africa Music Awards (also referred to as AFRIMA) is an annual awards event. The awards event was established by the International Committee AFRIMA, in collaboration with the African Union (AU) to reward and celebrate musical works, talents and creativity around the African continent while promoting the African cultural heritage. Its pioneer Awards show was held in 2014. History Nigeria has hosted three of the award editions during 2014–2016. Nigeria once again won the fourth-year hosting rights tenure in 2017. However, the Republic of Ghana was given the right to host the All Africa Music Awards for four consecutive years from December 2018 to 2020. Joseph Akinwale (born 21 May 1997), known professionally as Joeboy, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Mr Eazi of the record label emPawa Africa discovered him in 2017. His musical genres are Afro-pop and R&B. He was born in Lagos State, Nigeria. Early life and career The Mr Eazi-assisted track "Fààjí" was released on 26 October 2018; he used his portion of the grant he received from emPawa100 to shoot a video for the song. Joeboy's single "Baby" was released on 1 March 2019; it garnered 20 million streams across YouTube and Spotify in 2019. The visualizer music video for "Baby" surpassed 31 million views on YouTube. Joeboy released the Killertunes-produced track "Beginning" on 15 August 2019, where its accompanying visualizer music video accumulated 23 million views on YouTube. "Case" is a song by Nigerian singer Teni. Produced by Jaysynths, it was officially released on October 19, 2018. The song won Best Pop Single at The Headies 2019. Background and composition "Case" is a mid-tempo Afrobeats track that was produced by Jaysynths. Recorded primarily in Nigerian pidgin, its lyrics revolve around a girl going the extra mile to get the attention of her love interest. In 2019, Teni was featured on YouTube's Artist on the Rise platform. As a result of the recognition, her videos were promoted on YouTube's U.S trending page, in social media ads, and at fan event appearances. Video and performance The accompanying music video for "Case" was shot and directed by Director K outside Nigeria. As of November 2019, the video has surpassed 18 million views on YouTube. Teniola Apata (born 23 December 1993), professionally known as Teni The Entertainer is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and entertainer. Early life Teni was born on 23 December 1992 in Lagos State. Femi Otedola (born 4 November 1962) is a Nigerian businessman, philanthropist, and former chairman of Forte Oil PLC, an importer of fuel products.
