2019 Walker Cup
The 47th Walker Cup Match was played 7 and 8 September 2019 at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake, Merseyside, England. Royal Liverpool hosted the 1983 Walker Cup. The United States won by 15½ points to 10½. They trailed 7½ to 8½ coming in to the final day singles but won 8 of the 10 matches to win convincingly. Format On Saturday, there were four matches of foursomes in the morning and eight singles matches in the afternoon. On Sunday, there were four matches of foursomes in the morning, followed by ten singles matches (involving every player) in the afternoon. In all, 26 matches were played. Each of the 26 matches was worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match was all square after the 18th hole extra holes were not played. Royal Liverpool Golf Club
The Royal Liverpool Golf Club is a golf club in Wirral in Merseyside, England. It was founded in 1869 on what was then the racecourse of the Liverpool Hunt Club. It received the "Royal" designation in 1871 due to the patronage of the Duke of Connaught of the day, one of Queen Victoria's younger sons, Robert Chambers and George Morris (younger brother of Old Tom Morris) were commissioned to lay out the original course, which was extended to 18 holes in 1871. John Pak (born December 18, 1998) is an American professional golfer. Pak was raised in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, Pak attended Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School for one year before moving to Orlando, Florida to train. John Augenstein (born October 7, 1997) is an American professional golfer. In high school, Augenstein was a Kentucky individual state champion and team state finalist at Owensboro Catholic High School. In college, Augenstein was a first team All-American for the Vanderbilt Commodores. Andrew Ogletree (born April 3, 1998) is an American professional golfer from Union, Mississippi. He won the 2019 U.S. Amateur. Amateur career Ogletree attended Union High School in Union, Mississippi, leading his team to the Mississippi state championship in 2016. He also won the individual state championship that year. John Stewart Hagestad III (born April 10, 1991) is an American amateur golfer. Golf career Hagestad played his college golf for the USC Trojans. Hagestad won the 2016 U.S. Mid-Amateur at Stonewall, in Elverson, Pennsylvania, earning a spot at the 2017 Masters Tournament. Akshay Bhatia (born January 31, 2002) is an American professional golfer. Amateur career Bhatia was born in Northridge, California, and lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
