2019 Tipperary County Council Election
A Tipperary County Council election was held in County Tipperary in Ireland on 24 May 2019 as part of that year's local elections. All 40 councillors were elected for a five-year term of office from 8 local electoral areas (LEAs) by single transferable vote. The 2018 LEA boundary review committee significantly altered the LEAs used in the 2014 elections. Its terms of reference required no change in the total number of councillors but set a lower maximum LEA size of seven councillors, exceeded by three of the five 2014 LEAs. Other changes were necessitated by population shifts revealed by the 2016 census. The changes were enacted by statutory instrument (S.I.) No. 634/2018, and amended by S.I. No. 156/2019. Nenagh
Nenagh (, ; or simply ''An tAonach'') meaning “The Fair of Ormond” or simply "The Fair", is the county town and second largest town in County Tipperary in Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Nenagh used to be a market town, and the site of the East Munster Ormond Fair. Geography Nenagh, the largest town in northern County Tipperary, lies to the west of the Nenagh River, which empties into Lough Derg (Shannon), Lough Derg at Dromineer, 9 km to the north-west, a centre for sailing and other watersports. The Silvermine Mountains, Silvermine Mountain range lies to the south of the town, with the highest peak being Keeper Hill ( ga, Sliabh Coimeálta) at 694 m. Tipp FM
Tipp FM (Tipperary Local Radio), licensed since 1989 by the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland, is the local radio station covering County Tipperary. In addition to the official franchise area, the station also enjoys a listenership in neighbouring counties. History The station was licensed in 1989, initially to the north/south-east of County Tipperary. When the licence was renewed in 2003, the franchise was expanded to the whole of the county. Tipp FM is a full service licensed station whose franchise covers the whole of Co Tipperary. In recent years, Tipp FM has received back to back Digital Media Awards from the Camogie Association of Ireland as well as receiving awards for its road safety campaigns. Administrative Panel
The Administrative Panel () is one of five vocational panels which together elect 43 of the 60 members of Seanad Éireann, the upper house of the Oireachtas (the legislature of Ireland). The Administrative Panel elects seven senators. Election Article 18 of the Constitution of Ireland provides that 43 of the 60 senators are to be elected from five vocational panels. The Administrative Panel is defined in Article 18.7.1º(v) as "Public Administration and social services, including voluntary social activities". The Seanad returning officer maintains a list of nominating bodies for each of the five panels. Candidates may be nominated either by four members of the Oireachtas or by a nominating body. Seanad Éireann (, ; "Senate of Ireland") is the upper house of the Oireachtas (the Irish legislature), which also comprises the President of Ireland and Dáil Éireann (the lower house). Fine Gael (, ; English: "Family (or Tribe) of the Irish") is a liberal-conservative and Christian-democratic political party in Ireland. Thurles (; ''Durlas Éile'') is a town in County Tipperary, Ireland. It is located in the civil parish of the same name in the barony of Eliogarty and in the ecclesiastical parish of Thurles (Roman Catholic parish), Thurles. The cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly is located in the town. Noel Coonan (born 6 January 1951) is a former Irish Fine Gael politician who served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Tipperary North (Dáil constituency), Tipperary North constituency from 2007 to 2016. Templemore
Templemore () is a town in County Tipperary, Ireland. It is a civil parish in the historical barony of Eliogarty. It is part of the parish of Templemore, Clonmore and Killea in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly. The 2011 Census results show that the town's population decreased by 13.8% from 2,255 in 2006 to 1,943 in 2011. Location and access Templemore is the eighth largest town in County Tipperary. The N62 national route connects the town to the main Dublin-Limerick motorway ( M7 – Junction 22) and Roscrea north of the parish. Travelling south, the route connects to Thurles and then the main Dublin-Cork motorway ( M8 – Junction 6 Horse and Jockey). The N62 originates in Athlone.
