2019 Pan American Wrestling Championships
The 2019 Pan American Wrestling Championships was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 19 to 21 April 2019. The top three countries in the 18 weight categories scheduled to be held at the 2019 Pan American Games (also in Lima) will qualify for the Pan American Games. If Peru has not qualified at the end of the 2019 Pan American Championships, the third spot available at the tournament will be awarded to Peru. The USA has become the first time in history that a team has won every gold in a freestyle style at the Pan Am Championships. Agustín Alejandro Destribats (born October 30, 1997) is an Argentinian freestyle wrestler who currently competes at 65 kilograms. A three-time South American champion, Destribats qualified to represent Argentina at the 2020 Summer Olympics when he defeated three–time NCAA Division I National champion Zain Retherford at the 2020 Pan American Olympic Qualification Tournament. Career Destribats started wrestling when he was nine years old in a local club that offered savate, capoeira, and wrestling. In 2013 he won the South American Youth Games in both, freestyle and Greco-Roman and in 2014 he won gold in the Pan American Championships as a cadet in freestyle. David Taylor (wrestler, Born 1990)
David Morris Taylor III (born December 5, 1990) is an American freestyle and graduated folkstyle wrestler who currently competes at 86 kilograms. In 2021, Taylor became the 2020 Olympic gold medalist after defeating reigning Olympic and World Champion Hassan Yazdani, a feat he repeated from the 2018 World Championship where he stormed his way to the title. He later became the 2021 World Championship runner-up, after being defeated by Yazdani. Jasmit Phulka
Jasmit Singh Phulka (born October 11, 1993) is a Canadian freestyle wrestler. As of July 2023, he is ranked 35 by UWW. In 2018, Phulka debuted at the World Wrestling Championships which was held in Budapest. Early life and career Phulka was born and raised in Abbotsford, British Columbia. He is the son of Harjit Singh and Supinderjit Kaur Phulka. His elder brother, Chanmit is also a Pan American Champion wrestler. Phulka began his wrestling career at a young age of 10. Jasmit Phulka's first medal in the seniors' category was in 2013 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship which was held in Johannesburg. Chandler Rogers (born October 23, 2001) is an American football quarterback who will play for the California Golden Bears. Franklin Gómez Matos (born August 5, 1986) is a Dominican-born Puerto Rican freestyle wrestler. Early years and education Gómez was born in Puerto Plata Province in the Dominican Republic. His father, Eugenio Gómez, was a fisherman and his mother, Margarita Matos, was a housewife. In 1991, Franklin's father died as a consequence of medical malpractice.
