2019 Osaka Mayoral Election
The 2019 Osaka mayoral election was held on 7 April 2019 to elect the next mayor of Osaka. Incumbent mayor Hirofumi Yoshimura decided to not seek a second term as mayor of Osaka in order to run as Governor of Osaka. The result of the election was a victory for Governor of Osaka Prefecture Ichiro Matsui. He received 58% of the vote. Osaka Restoration Association
The , also referred to as One Osaka, is a regional political party in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. Founded in 2010 by then-Governor Tōru Hashimoto, its main platform is pursuing the Osaka Metropolis plan of merging the prefecture and some of its cities into "One Osaka", reducing overlapping bureaucratic organizations of the prefecture and the city of Osaka, towards Dōshūsei. Hirofumi Yoshimura
is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Governor of Osaka Prefecture. He assumed office in April 2019. He has been described as a conservative. Early life Yoshimura was born in the Osaka suburb of Kawachinagano. He studied law at Kyushu University, graduating in 1998. He passed the Japanese bar examination later that year and was admitted to practice as an attorney in 2000, at the age of 25. After working for several years under Tokyo-based attorney Shintaro Kumagai ( 熊谷 信太郎), Yoshimura returned to Osaka and co-founded the Star Law Office in 2005. Ichirō Matsui
is a Japanese businessman and politician who is the current mayor of Osaka, leader of the Osaka Restoration Association (ORA) and one of the presidents of Nippon Ishin no Kai alongside Nobuyuki Baba. Early life Matsui attended public elementary and middle schools in Yao, Osaka, and moved to Fukuoka for high school.
