2019 Ontario Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2019 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held January 28 to February 2 at the Woolwich Memorial Centre in Elmira, Ontario. The winning team of skip Rachel Homan, third Emma Miskew, second Joanne Courtney and lead Lisa Weagle represented Ontario at the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Sydney, Nova Scotia, finishing second. Homan defeated Julie Tippin in the final with a final score of 7-5. The event was held in conjunction with the 2019 Ontario Tankard, the men's provincial championship. This was the sixth time the team played at the Scotties and the fourth time representing Ontario. Unlike the 2018 event, the 2019 Scotties returned to having a round robin format. Elmira, Ontario
Elmira is the largest community in the township of Woolwich, Ontario, Canada. It is north of the city of Waterloo near the Regional Municipality of Waterloo's northern border with Wellington County. The community was listed in the 2016 Canadian census as having a population of 10,161. The 2019 Ontario Men's Curling Championship, better known as the Tankard, the 2019 provincial men's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held from January 27 to February 3 at the Woolwich Memorial Centre in Elmira, Ontario. The winning Scott McDonald team would represent Ontario at the 2019 Tim Hortons Brier in Brandon, Manitoba. The event is being held in conjunction with the 2019 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship. Brenda Holloway (born June 26, 1946) is an American soul singer who was a recording artist for Motown Records during the 1960s. Her best-known recordings are the hits "Every Little Bit Hurts", " When I'm Gone", and "You've Made Me So Very Happy". Kingston is a city in Ontario, Canada. Cataraqui Golf and Country Club is a private golf and curling club located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It was founded in 1917. History Early golf in Kingston, the Kingston Golf Club Cataraqui G&CC was established in 1917. Its founding arose from development pressures in downtown Kingston. The new club was built on land that was then on the western edge of settlement for the city and district, following the World War I-era construction of the LaSalle Causeway and provincial highway, across the Cataraqui River as it feeds into Lake Ontario, in downtown Kingston. Erin Morrissey
Erin Kathleen Morrissey (born March 28, 1985) is a Canadian curler from Ottawa, Ontario. She currently plays third on Team Erica Hopson. She is a former provincial junior, university and mixed champion. Career In 2005 Morrissey's Rideau Curling Club rink won the Provincial junior championships. At the 2005 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, the team did not fare well however, finishing third last with a 4-8 record. Morrissey would then attend the University of Western Ontario. In 2009, she would win the OUA championship for Western. In 2010, Morrissey won the ''2011'' provincial mixed title playing third for Chris Gardner. Chelsea Brandwood
Chelsea Brandwood is a Canadian curler from St. Catharines, Ontario. She currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Her hometown is Beamsville, Ontario. Career Youth Brandwood's first provincial title came at the women's bantam championship in 2012. Brandwood won the Ontario Junior women's championship in 2015, with teammates Claire Greenlees, Brenda Holloway and Danielle Greenlees. Cathy Auld
Catherine "Cathy" Auld (born December 3, 1971) is a Canadian curler from Toronto. She currently skips her own team out of Thornhill, Ontario. Career Auld was a longtime member of the Alison Goring rink. Auld played third for the team until 2006 when she was promoted to last rock thrower when Goring moved to throwing lead rocks. The team found success together with this lineup modification. At the 2007 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, they finished the round robin with a 7-2 record. This was enough to secure a playoff spot and they faced Sherry Middaugh in the 3-4 game. However, they lost the game. The team qualified for the 2008 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, where they completed the round robin with a 6-3 record. Jestyn Murphy (born September 21, 1996) is a Canadian curler from Mississauga, Ontario. She currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Career Youth Murphy won the Ontario Bantam championship in 2013, skipping a team out of the Listowel Curling Club. Murphy was a member of the University of Guelph women's curling team. In her first year, Murphy played third for the team, which was skipped by Katelyn Wasylkiw. The team played in the 2015 CIS/CCA Curling Championships, going 3-4. The next season, Murphy skipped the team, and led them to a bronze medal at the 2016 CIS/CCA Curling Championships. Murphy was named then Gryphon Athlete of the Week for the University of Guelph. Hollie Duncan (born January 6, 1987 in Toronto, Ontario as Hollie Nicol) is a Canadian curler. She currently skips her own team on the World Curling Tour. Career Juniors As a bantam-aged curler, Duncan skipped her Unionville Curling Club rink to a provincial Bantam championship in 2002. In 2004, Duncan represented the Bayview Country Club when her team won the Ontario Winter Games championship. Duncan wrapped up her junior career by winning the 2007 provincial junior championship. Her rink of Laura Hickey, Karen Sagle and Hilary McDermott from the Kitchener-Waterloo Granite Club would then go on to represent Ontario at the 2007 Canadian Junior Curling Championships.
