2019 Oceania Cup (field Hockey)
The 2019 Men's Oceania Cup was the eleventh edition of the men's field hockey tournament. It was held from 5 to 8 September in Rockhampton. The tournament served as a qualifier for the 2020 Summer Olympics. Australia won the tournament for the eleventh time, finishing ahead of New Zealand at the conclusion of the pool stage. Background Australia were the ten-time back-to-back defending champions. The winners of the Cup earned an automatic place at the 2020 Olympic Games. The hosting announcement of the Rockhampton Hockey Association came as $5 million was being invested into the hockey centre to upgrade the facilities. In March 2019, Stirling Hinchliffe, MLA for Sandgate and Minister for Local Government, Racing and Multicultural Affairs announced that the Government of Queensland had invested $2.5 million into the Kalka Shades, the home of the Rockhampton Hockey Association. Rockhampton
Rockhampton is a city in the Rockhampton Region of Central Queensland, Australia. Colin Batch
Colin Batch (born 27 March 1958) is a professional international field hockey coach and former international player from Australia. Batch is the head coach of the Australian Men's national hockey team the ''Kookaburras'' following his appointment on Tuesday 6 December 2016. He was the head coach of the New Zealand Men's national hockey team the '' Black Sticks'' between 2013 and 2016. Prior to this he was the head coach of the Belgium Men's national hockey team the '' Red Lions'' from 2010 to 2012. From 2001 to 2008 he was the assistant coach of the most successful Australian Men's national hockey team the ''Kookaburras'' in history. Flynn Andrew Ogilvie (born 17 September 1993) is an Australian field hockey player, and Commonwealth Games gold medallist. Personal life Ogilvie was born in Wollongong, New South Wales. Career Junior National Teams Ogilvie first represented Australia in 2010, at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. Tim Howard (born 23 June 1996) is an Australian field hockey player who plays as a defender for the Australian national team. Career Junior national teams Howard has represented Australia at junior level in both Under 18 and Under 21 age groups.
