2019 Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2019 Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship of Nova Scotia, was held from January 21 to 27 at the Dartmouth Curling Club in Dartmouth. The winning Jill Brothers team represented Nova Scotia at the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
Dartmouth ( ) is an urban community and former city located in the Halifax Regional Municipality of Nova Scotia, Canada. Dartmouth is located on the eastern shore of Halifax Harbour. Dartmouth has been nicknamed the City of Lakes, after the large number of lakes located within its boundaries. On April 1, 1996, the provincial government amalgamated all the municipalities within the boundaries of Halifax County into a single-tier regional government named the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). Dartmouth and its neighbouring city of Halifax, the town of Bedford and the Municipality of the County of Halifax were dissolved. Colleen Jones
Colleen Patricia Jones (born December 16, 1959) is a Canadian curler and television personality. She is best known as the skip of two women's world championship teams and six Tournament of Hearts Canadian women's championships, including an unprecedented four titles in a row and held the record for most Tournament of Hearts wins from when she won her 67th game 1994 until her eventual 152 wins were eclipsed by Jennifer Jones in 2021. Jones also serves as a reporter and weather presenter for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and as a curling commentator for NBC in the United States, particularly during the 2010 Winter Olympics. Taylor James Clarke (born May 13, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Kansas City Royals. Amateur career Clarke attended Broad Run High School in Ashburn, Virginia, where he played baseball, basketball and golf. He began his college career at Towson University. In January 2013, Clarke tore the ulnar collateral ligament of his pitching elbow, and underwent Tommy John surgery. Blisse Joyce (born March 6, 1983 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia as Blisse Comstock) is a Canadian curler from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. She is a former Canadian Junior curling champion. She currently plays for Team Jill Brothers. Career In 2003, Joyce played second for Robyn Mattie's Boylston, Nova Scotia junior rink. They won their provincial junior championship, giving them the right to represent Nova Scotia at the 2003 Canadian Junior Curling Championships in Ottawa (where Mattie now lives). The team finished in first place (10-2) after the round robin, but lost to Saskatchewan's Stefanie Miller in the final. In 2004, Joyce joined the Jill Mouzar (now Brothers) team. Emma Logan (born August 11, 1997) is a Canadian curler from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She currently plays lead on Team Jessica Daigle. She is the niece of five time Scotties champion Mary-Anne Arsenault. She is also deaf. Career Logan skipped the St. Francis Xavier University team at the 2017 U Sports/Curling Canada University Championships in Thunder Bay, Ontario where the team went 3–4. She joined her aunt Mary-Anne Arsenault's team as alternate for the 2018–19 season. They lost the final of the 2019 Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament of Hearts to Jill Brothers 6–5. Kristin Clarke (born January 23, 1997) is a Canadian curler from Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia. Curling career Clarke skipped the Nova Scotia 2015 NS U18 Women's Championship Team and the NS U21 Mixed Championship Team. She joined Team Fay as third for the 2015/2016 season. Team Fay captured the 2016 Canadian Junior Curling Championships in Stratford, Ontario, and the 2016 World Junior Curling Championships in Tarnby, Denmark. Jennifer "Jenn" Baxter (born April 4, 1987 in Halifax, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian curler from Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. She currently plays third on Team Christina Black out of the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax. Career Juniors During Baxter's junior eligibility years, she would only make one appearance at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships. This appearance took place at the 2007 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where Baxter, playing lead for Marie Christianson, represented Nova Scotia. Her team failed to make the playoffs, finishing round robin with a 6-6 record. 2009–current Baxter would team up with and play second for Mary-Anne Arsenault at the start of the 2009/2010 curling season.
