2019 Nigerian Gubernatorial Elections
The 2019 Nigerian gubernatorial elections were held for state governors in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but three were held on 2 March 2019 with the election for Rivers State being postponed until 4 April, while the Kogi State and Bayelsa State elections were both held on 16 November. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all states were in 2015. All states have a two term limit for Governors which made several incumbent governors ineligible for re-election. Seven APC governors were term-limited while eleven incumbent APC governors were eligible for re-election. Among PDP governors, three were term-limited while ten could seek re-election. Elections were held in 18 of the 22 states with APC governors and all 13 of the states with PDP governors. Incumbent state governors running to be reelected included 11 APC governors and 10 PDP governors. List Of State Governors Of Nigeria
The following table presents a list of Nigeria's state governors. Governors are elected for a term of four years (maximum of two terms). A minister appointed by the president oversees affairs in the Federal Capital Territory. 2015 Bauchi State Gubernatorial Election
The 2015 Bauchi State gubernatorial election was the 8th gubernatorial election of Bauchi State. Held on April 11, 2015, the All Progressives Congress nominee Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar won the election, defeating Mohammed Jatau of the People's Democratic Party. APC primary APC candidate Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar defeated 7 other contestants to clinch the party ticket. Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar (born 11 December 1956) is a Nigerian politician who served as governor of Bauchi State from 2015 to 2019. He is popularly known as Makama Baba and Garzali. The 2015 Akwa Ibom State gubernatorial election occurred in Nigeria on April 11, 2015, the PDP nominee Udom Gabriel Emmanuel won the election, defeating Umana Umana of the APC.
