2019 NHK Trophy
The 2019 NHK Trophy was the sixth event of the 2019–20 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at Makomanai Ice Arena in Sapporo, Japan from November 22–24. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Skaters earned points toward qualifying for the 2019–20 Grand Prix Final. Entries The ISU announced the preliminary assignments on June 20, 2019. ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of single skating, men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. Single Skating
Single skating is a discipline of figure skating in which male and female skaters compete individually. Men's singles and women's singles are governed by the International Skating Union (ISU). Figure skating is the oldest winter sport contested at the Olympics, with men's and women's single skating appearing as two of the four figure skating events at the London Games in 1908. Single skaters are required to perform two segments in all international competitions, the short program and the free skating program. Shane Firus (born February 21, 1994) is a Canadian ice dancer. With his skating partner, Carolane Soucisse, he is the 2018 Four Continents silver medallist. They have finished fourth at the 2017 and 2018 Canadian Championships and represented Canada on the Grand Prix circuit and at the World Championships. Kirsten Moore-Towers (born July 1, 1992) is a Canadian retired competitive pair skater who competed internationally at the senior level for thirteen seasons from 2009 to 2022. She first achieved distinction partnered with Dylan Moscovitch, winning the 2011 Canadian national title. Conrad Orzel (born July 11, 2000) is a Canadian figure skater and model. He is the 2019 Bavarian Open silver medalist and 2023 Canadian national silver medalist.
