Royal Albert Hall
The Royal Albert Hall is a concert hall on the northern edge of South Kensington, London. One of the UK's most treasured and distinctive buildings, it is held in trust for the nation and managed by a registered charity which receives no government funding. It can seat 5,272. Since the hall's opening by Queen Victoria in 1871, the world's leading artists from many performance genres have appeared on its stage. It is the venue for the BBC Proms concerts, which have been held there every summer since 1941. Donmar Warehouse
The Donmar Warehouse is a 251-seat, not-for-profit theatre in Covent Garden, London, England. It first opened on 18 July 1977. Sam Mendes, Michael Grandage and Josie Rourke have all served as artistic director, a post held since 2019 by Michael Longhurst. Lynn Nottage
Lynn Nottage (born November 2, 1964) is an American playwright whose work often focuses on the experience of working-class people, particularly working-class people who are Black. She has received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama twice: in 2009 for her play ''Ruined'', and in 2017 for her play ''Sweat''. She was the first (and remains the only) woman to have won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama two times. Nottage is the recipient of a MacArthur "Genius" Fellowship and was included in ''Time'' magazine's 2019 list of the 100 Most Influential People. She is currently an associate professor of playwriting at Columbia University and an artist-in-residence at the Park Avenue Armory. ''Sweat'' is a 2015 play by American playwright Lynn Nottage. It won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play premiered at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in 2015; it was produced Off-Broadway in 2016 and on Broadway in 2017. The play is centered on the working class of Reading, Pennsylvania. Background Lynn Nottage, originally born and raised in Brooklyn, New York produced the award-winning play, ''Sweat''. Lynn Nottage began working on the play in 2011 by interviewing numerous residents of Reading, Pennsylvania, which at the time was, according to the United States Census Bureau, officially one of the poorest cities in America, with a poverty rate of over 40%. Trafalgar Theatre is a new West End theatre in Whitehall, near Trafalgar Square, in the City of Westminster, London. It is set to open in spring 2021 following a major multi-million Pound sterling, pound restoration project aiming to reinstate it back to its original heritage design. Arinzé Kene
Arinzé Mokwe Kene () is a Nigerian-born British actor and playwright. Early life In 1987, Kene was born in Lagos, Nigeria and moved to London when he was four. Kene's father was a taxi driver. Kene was bullied growing up and was encouraged to take kickboxing lessons. When he turned 16, he started his amateur kickboxing career and went on to win two national championships. He quit kickboxing at 21 years old and went on to pursue an acting career. Ben Power is a British dramaturg and playwright. Since 2010 he has been an associate director of the National Theatre. He studied English at Cambridge University. He often collaborates with Rupert Goold and his Headlong company. He was dramaturg and Literary Associate on ''A Disappearing Number'' for Complicite, which won the 2007 Evening Standard, Critics’ Circle and Olivier awards for Best Play. Stefano Massini is an Italian writer, essayist and playwright. He was born in Florence in 1975, and studied Literature at the University of Florence. He began his theatrical career at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, and at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. He is best known for ''The Lehman Trilogy'', which has played in both London and Broadway to great critical acclaim, and won the Tony Award for Best Play. The play was also the basis for his novel ''Qualcosa sui Lehman'', which won multiple awards. Some observers find the play's depiction of the Lehmans to be overtly anti-Semitic. The Lehman Trilogy
''The Lehman Trilogy'' is a three-act play by Italian novelist and playwright Stefano Massini. It follows the lives of three immigrant brothers from when they arrive in America and found investment firm through to the collapse of the company in 2008. It has been translated into 24 languages, staged by such directors as Luca Ronconi and Sam Mendes, and was later published as a novel. The play was produced in the West End in 2018 by the National Theatre, was directed by Sam Mendes and included the cast of Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley and Ben Miles.
