2019 Ebonyi State Gubernatorial Election
The 2019 Ebonyi State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019. Incumbent PDP Governor Dave Umahi won re-election for a second term, defeating APC Sonni Ogbuoji and several minor party candidates. Dave Umahi emerged PDP gubernatorial candidate unopposed. He picked Eric Kelechi Igwe as his running mate. Sonni Ogbuoji was the APC candidate with Justin Mbam Ogodo as his running mate. 37 candidates contested in the election. Electoral system The Governor of Ebonyi State is elected using the plurality voting system. Primary election PDP primary The PDP primary election was held on September 30, 2018. Dave Umahi won the primary election unopposed. Dave Umahi
David Nweze Umahi CON (born July 25, 1964) better known as Dave Umahi is a Nigerian politician who is currently serving as the Governor of Ebonyi State. Early life and education Umahi was born 25 July 1964. He is the son of Elder Joseph Umahi Nwaze and Margaret Umahi of Umunaga, Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area, now in Ebonyi State. Umahi received his secondary education from Ishiagu High School and the Government Secondary School of Afikpo before entering the Enugu State University of Science and Technology in 1982. He graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. In 1990, he co-founded Norman Engineering and Construction Nig. Abakaliki is the capital city of Ebonyi State in southeastern Nigeria, located southeast of Enugu. The inhabitants are primarily members of the Igbo nation. Ezza South is a local government area located in Ebonyi state on south-eastern Nigeria. Its headquarters is Onueke, which also serve as a central unification town for the Ezza nation as well as headquarters of Ebonyi Central senatorial zone.
