2019 Connecticut Sun Season
The 2019 WNBA season was the 21st season for the Connecticut Sun franchise of the WNBA. It was also the 17th season for the franchise in Connecticut. The team opened the season on May 25 versus the Washington Mystics. The Sun started the season well, posting a 9–4 record through the end of June. They were especially strong at home, going 6–0 over the first two months of the season. The end of June into the beginning of July proved to be a rough patch for the team. They lost five straight games from June 23 to July 10. This stretch included one of only two home losses on the season. After this losing streak, the Sun went on a seven game winning streak that lasted from July 12 to August 4. The Sun's final record in July was 5–2. Curt Miller
Curt Miller (born October 6, 1968) is an American basketball coach, currently the head coach of the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association, WNBA. He previously served as the head coach of the Connecticut Sun from 2016-2022 and Bowling Green State University from 2001–2012 and Indiana University Bloomington, Indiana University from 2012–2014, and spent one season as an assistant to Brian Agler with the Los Angeles Sparks. Assistant coaching career Miller served as an assistant coach at Colorado State University, Colorado State, helping the school to an 81-20 (.802) overall record during his three seasons there. The Iowa State Cyclones women's basketball team represents Iowa State University (ISU) and competes in the Big 12 Conference of NCAA Division I. The Dallas Wings are an American basketball team based in Arlington, Texas. The Wings play in the Western Conference in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Los Angeles Sparks (LA Sparks) are an American professional basketball team based in Los Angeles. Chinenye "Chiney" Ogwumike (born March 21, 1992) is a Nigerian-American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). In 2020, she became the first Black woman and the first WNBA player to host a national radio show for ESPN. Natisha Hiedeman (born February 10, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was drafted with the eighteenth overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft, which is the highest of any Marquette basketball player in school history and the highest draft pick for the Big East Conference since conference re-alignment.
