2019 Canada Sevens
The 2019 Canada Sevens was the fourth edition of the Canada Sevens tournament, and the sixth tournament of the 2018–19 World Rugby Sevens Series. The tournament was played on 9–10 March at BC Place in Vancouver. Format The teams are drawn into four pools of four teams each. Each team plays every other team in their pool once. The top two teams from each pool advance to the Cup bracket where teams compete for the gold, silver, and bronze medals. The bottom two teams from each group go to the Challenge Trophy bracket. 2018–19 World Rugby Sevens Series
The 2018–19 World Rugby Sevens Series, known for sponsorship reasons as the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, was the 20th annual series of rugby sevens tournaments for national men's rugby sevens teams. The World Rugby Sevens Series, Sevens Series has been run by World Rugby since 1999–2000. This series also, for the second time, doubled as a qualifier for the Rugby sevens at the 2020 Summer Olympics, 2020 Summer Olympics, with the top four countries qualifying automatically. Fiji finished first in the Series, winning five of the ten tournaments. The United States finished in a best-ever second place, reaching the semifinals in all ten tournaments. Madison Hughes
Madison John Hughes (born October 26, 1992) is a rugby union player who was the captain of the United States national rugby sevens team from 2014 until he stepped away from the team in late 2021. Hughes was named captain of the United States national team at the start of the 2014 Sevens World Series, shortly after the appointment of new head coach Mike Friday. Hughes captained the US Eagles to their highest ever finish in the sevens series (sixth place) in the 2014/2015 season, a significant improvement on the team's 12th place finish the previous year. This feat was matched with another strong year in the 2015/2016 Season, where Hughes was the highest points scorer in the World Series. Benjamin Joseph Pinkelman (born June 13, 1994) is an American professional rugby union player who plays as a forward for the United States national sevens team. Early life Pinkelman began playing rugby while he attended Cherry Creek High School in Denver, Colorado. Pinkelman was named Youth Rugby Player of the Year by USA Rugby in 2014. He represented the United States at the 2014 IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy in Hong Kong. Philippus Albertus Borman Snyman (born 26 March 1987) is a South African rugby union footballer. He is the current captain of South Africa's National Rugby 7s Team, Blitzbokke.
