2019 Asian Formula Renault Series
The 2019 Asian Formula Renault Series (aka AFR Series) was the 20th season of the AFR Series since its creation in 2000 by FRD. The season began on 23 March at the Zhuhai International Circuit and ended at the same venue on 8 December after five events. Joey Alders won the 2019 Championship in his debut season with his team BlackArts Racing Team. Starting from 2015, drivers and teams compete in two classes, Pro (Class A) for drivers and teams competing with the 2013 FR2.0 car, and Elite (Class B) for drivers and teams using the FR2.0 old spec cars. Asian Formula Renault Series
The Formula Renault AsiaCup (formerly known as the Asian Formula Renault Challenge and AFR Series) is a Formula Renault 2.0 championship held in Asia. The series debuted in 2002 and also held the ''China Formula Renault Challenge''. The series is a part of the Formula Racing Development Limited (FRD) organization managed by Kenneth Ma to promote motorsport in Asia. The FRD also runs the China Formula Campus and Clio Cup China Series. The cars use Tatuus chassis and 2.0 L Renault Clio engines like other Formula Renault 2.0 series. After several seasons racing on Kumho tires, the series started using Giti tires from 2014. Chao Yin "Neric" Wei (born 21 March 1981) is a Chinese racing driver Formally competing in the TCR International Series and TCR Asia Series. Having previously competed in the Asian Le Mans Series Sprint Cup, Asian Formula Renault Series and Lotus Interport Cup Series amongst others. Racing career Wei began his career in 2010 in the Zhuhai Pan Delta Super Racing Festival, he won the championship three years in a row, from 2010-2012. He switched to the Lotus Interport Cup Series in 2013 and won the title that year. He also raced in the Asian Formula Renault Series in 2013, finishing fifth in the championship standings that year.
