2018–19 Uganda Premier League
The 2018–19 Uganda Premier League was the 52nd season of the Uganda Premier League, the top-tier football league in Uganda. The season started on 28 September 2018. KCCA FC won the championship with two games left to play in the home and away season, after drawing 1–1 with Ndejje University. Participating teams UPDF, Proline FC and Masavu FC Entebbe were relegated from the 2017–18 Uganda Premier League. They were replaced by Nyamityobora FC, who won the Rwenzori group of the 2017–18 FUFA Big League, Ndejje University, and Paidha Black Angels, who won the promotion playoff. All three promoted teams would be relegated this season. Some of the Kampala clubs may on occasions also play home matches at the Mandela National Stadium. Uganda Premier League
The Ugandan Premier League, also known as the StarTimes Uganda Premier League for sponsorship reasons, is the top division of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations. The league was previously known as the Uganda Super League but changed in the 2014–15 season after new management taking over. The league's roots date back to 1968 when the National First Division League was established. History Original concept The genesis of club football in Uganda was an idea copied from England by Balamaze Lwanga and Polycarp Kakooza. The objective was to improve Uganda's performances in the Africa Cup of Nations after disappointing results in the finals in 1962 (fourth-place finish) and 1968 (lost all three group stage matches), both held in Ethiopia. Bul FC
BIDCO Uganda Limited Jinja Football Club, also BUL Jinja FC, is a Ugandan football club from Jinja, in the Eastern Region of the country. The club is owned by BIDCO Uganda Limited, based in Jinja, Uganda. They play in the top division of Ugandan football, the Uganda Premier League. History The club was started in 2006-2007 as Bidco Co. departmental competitions with an intent of Corporate social Responsibility to market and promote Bidco Products, through which they developed the idea of joining Fufa associated leagues. The team played in the FUFA Super League for the first time in 2011 and finished thirteenth out of sixteen teams that participated in the league for that season. Police FC (Uganda)
Police FC is a football club from Kampala in Uganda. History They have won their first Ugandan league title in 2005 and the CECAFA Clubs Cup in 2006. Police was spurred on in the early years by Dennis Obua as a player and later as coach. During Obua's years, he managed to stage youthful players who have blossomed into really great talent. When Obua became the Federation of Uganda Football Association president, he hired Steven Mulinde to step in his shoes. Police saw tremendous growth and lately has been involved in several international ties. As of November 2019, the main stadium for Police FC is the Star Times Stadium. Located in the area of Lugogo. On 25 September, Tonny Mawejje was introduced as the captain for Police FC. Paidha
Paidha is a town in the Northern Region of Uganda. Onduparaka
Onduparaka is a village in Ayivu County, Arua District. The soccer team Onduparaka FC got its name from this place and its official home ground - Greenlight Stadium can be found when you cut right from the main road some metres after the junction. Onduparaka FC
Onduparaka FC is a Ugandan football club currently playing in the Ugandan Premier League. They play home games at Greenlight Stadium in Onduparaka, a suburb of Arua. The club's name means 'sorghum stem' in the Lugbara language while motto is: ''The struggle continues''. History Amateur era Onduparaka FC was formed in late October 2011 by Joe Erema and Benjamin Nyakuni, who had graduated from Makerere University Business School. Originally, the club was intended to benefit students and young people and enable them to play in inter-village competitions. The team was strictly amateur and created so that the youth would be kept on the path of moral uprightness through a healthy passion for competitive games. Ndejje
Ndejje is a hill in Central Uganda. The hill rises above sea level. Ndejje also refers to the trading center that has developed along the southern slopes of Ndejje Hill. Location Ndejje is located in Luweero District, approximately , by road, north of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city. Mbarara City is a city in the Western Region of Uganda and the second largest city in Uganda after Kampala. Mbarara City FC
Mbarara City FC is a football club in Mbarara City, Uganda. The team plays in the top division of Ugandan professional football, the Star Times Uganda Premier League where they have been participating since 5 May 2017, after defeating Synergy FC in the FUFA Big League Play Offs, and the club uses Kakyeka Stadium as their home hosting grounds. Mbarara City FC has more fans than any other team in the Western Region of Uganda. Maroons Football Club also known as Prisons Football Club, is a Ugandan football club from Kampala owned by Uganda Prisons Service, currently playing in the FUFA Big League. Playing as Prisons FC, the club won the first two editions of the Ugandan Premier League History Prisons FC won the first two Ugandan Super League titles in 1968 and 1969, and were the first team to represent Uganda in international competition in the 1970 African Cup of Champions Clubs (a Ugandan team, Bitumastic, qualified in 1967 but withdrew before playing a match.) Lugogo Stadium
Lugogo Stadium, also known as Lugogo Cricket Oval, is a cricket ground in Kampala, Uganda. The first recorded match held on the ground came in 1957 when Kenya Asians played Sunder Cricket Club. In that same year Uganda first used the ground when the national team played the Sunder Cricket Club. The ground held its inaugural first-class match when an East African Invitation XI played the touring Marylebone Cricket Club in 1963. A further first-class match followed in 1967 when a combined East Africa team played the touring Indians. The next first-class matches to be held on the ground didn't come until 2005, when Uganda played two matches there in the Intercontinental Cup against Kenya and Namibia. The Lugogo Stadium is the only cricket venue in Uganda to have held first-class cricket.
