The 2018–19 Ranji Trophy was the 85th season of the Ranji Trophy, the first-class cricket tournament that took place in India. It was contested by 37 teams, divided into four groups, with nine teams in Group A. The group stage ran from 1 November 2018 to 10 January 2019. The top five teams across Group A and 2018–19 Ranji Trophy Group B, Group B progressed to the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy#Quarter-finals, quarter-finals of the competition. In the opening round of fixtures, in the match between Mumbai cricket team, Mumbai and Railways cricket team, Railways in Delhi, players wore masks because of the Air quality in Delhi, poor air quality. In the third round match between Vidarbha cricket team, Vidarbha and Baroda cricket team, Baroda, Vidarbha's Wasim Jaffer became the first batsman to score 11,000 runs in the Ranji Trophy. Board Of Control For Cricket In India
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the national governing body for cricket in India. Its headquarters are situated at Cricket centre, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The BCCI is the richest governing body of cricket in the world and is part of the ''Big Three'' of international cricket, along with Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board. The board was formed in and is a consortium of List of members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, state cricket associations. The state associations select their own representatives who in turn elect the BCCI president. R. E. Grant Govan, Grant Govan was the first BCCI president and Anthony De Mello was its first secretary. It joined the International Cricket Council, Imperial Cricket Conference in the year 1926.
