The 2018 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships was the 29th edition of the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships. It was held from 5 to 9 September 2018 in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. Lenzerheide
Lenzerheide ( Romansh: ''Lai'') is a mountain resort in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland at the foot of the Parpaner Rothorn. The village lies in the municipality Vaz/Obervaz in the district of Albula, sub-district Alvaschein. The village lies in a broadened section of the valley between the cantonal capital Chur to the north and Tiefencastel, beyond which are the Julier Pass and St Moritz. The high valley forms a pass of no official name, often referred to as Lenzerheide pass, with a culmination point located 5 km north of the village. Lenzerheide is popular as skiing resort and for its lake (Heidsee), which is frozen in winter. The Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG offers access to the skiing areas of Stätzerhorn, Danis, Scalottas, and Rothorn. There are slopes approved for all FIS Alpine Ski World Cup races for women and men. Annika Langvad (born 22 March 1984) is a Danish former racing cyclist, who rode for Specialized Racing in cross-country mountain bike racing. Langvad is a five-time World Champion in mountain bike racing, winning four titles in mountain bike marathon and one in cross-country. Career From 2014, Langvad and her Swiss Spur-Specialized teammate Ariane Kleinhans won the women's category of Absa Cape Epic three consecutive times. In 2015, they won by a significant margin of an hour and 18 minutes. Langvad won the Cape Epic a total of five times during her career. Also in 2015, Langvad won the Leadville 100, becoming the first woman to ride that race under 7 hours. Kate Courtney (born October 29, 1995) is an American cross-country mountain bike cyclist. Early life Born to Maggie and Tom Courtney in October 1995, Kate Courtney grew up in Marin County, California at the base of Mount Tamalpais, which is considered to be the birthplace of mountain biking. Courtney was introduced to cycling at a young age by her father and they would ride a mountain-bike tandem up Mount Tamalpais together. Her interest in cycling was piqued when, as a freshman, she joined her school mountain bike team at Branson High School. While at high school, Courtney competed for the USA National Team and Whole Athlete Development Team in events around the World. Danny Hart (born 20 September 1991) is a British downhill mountain biker who currently rides for Cube Factory Racing. He won the 2011 and 2016 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships. Career Hart was educated at Rye Hills School in Redcar. He had received financial support from Redcar and Cleveland Young People's Trust as a junior rider. In October 2011, after winning the World Championships, Hart and former Olympic triple-jumper Jonathan Edwards and world paratriathlete Charlotte Ellis helped launch a £31m project to build a leisure centre in Redcar.
