2018 King Cup
The 2018 King Cup, or The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, was the 43rd edition of the King Cup since its establishment in 1957, and the 11th under the current format. It started on 3 January and concluded with the final on 12 May 2018. The winner qualified for the 2019 AFC Champions League group stage. Al-Ittihad won their eighth title after a 3–1 win over Al-Faisaly in the final on 12 May 2018. Pro League side Al-Hilal were the defending champions, but they were eliminated by Al-Qadsiah in the Round of 16. It was the earliest exit by the title holders since the introduction of the new format. The Cairo International Stadium ( ar, ستاد القاهرة الدولي), formerly known as Nasser Stadium, is an Olympic-standard, multi-use stadium with an all-seated capacity of 75,000. The architect of the stadium is the German Werner March, who had built from 1934 to 1936 the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. The engineering and construction supervision work of the stadium was performed by ACE Moharram Bakhoum. It is the 69th largest stadium in the world. Felix Brych (born 3 August 1975) is a German Association football, football referee. He referees for SV Am Hart München of the Bavarian Football Association. King Saud University Stadium, also known as Mrsool Park due to sponsorship reasons, is a football stadium located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In September 2020, Saudi Media Company obtained the management rights for operating the stadium. In October 2020, SMC signed a deal with Al Nassr FC for the Mrsool Park to become their home. History The construction work on the campus of King Saud University in Western Riyadh started in Spring 2011 and the opening took place in May 2015.
