2018 Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2018 Viterra Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Saskatchewan, was held from January 2–7 at the Northern Lights Palace in Melfort, Saskatchewan. The winning Sherry Anderson team represented Saskatchewan at the 2018 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Candace Chisholm, skip of the Chisholm rink won the Marj Mitchell Award for sportsmanship and competitiveness. Melfort, Saskatchewan
Melfort (Canada 2016 Census, 2016 population 5,992) is a city in Saskatchewan, Canada, located approximately southeast of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Prince Albert, northeast of Saskatoon and north of Regina, Saskatchewan, Regina. Melfort became Saskatchewan's 12th city in 1980. Melfort was formerly called the "City of Northern Lights" due to the frequency with which the aurora borealis appears. Penny Barker
Penny Barker (born Penny Roy on September 25, 1985) is a curler from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She currently skips her own team out of the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre in Moose Jaw. She is a two-time Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial champion, winning the event in 2017 and 2022. Career Juniors Barker was the alternate on the Mandy Selzer rink that represented Canada at the 2006 World Junior Curling Championships. The team won the silver medal that year. She represented the University of Regina at five Canadian university championships, including winning a silver in 2007. Women's Barker began skipping a women's team in 2007, after playing third for Karen Purdy in the 2006–07 season. Lana Vey
Lana Vey (born April 6, 1984, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian curler from Regina, Saskatchewan. Vey had no prior national championship experience when she was picked up to play third for Jan Betker for the 2006–07 season to replace Joan McCusker. However, the team had quite a successful season, going all the way to the 2007 Scotties Tournament of Hearts final, but losing to Kelly Scott's rink in the final. After the season, Vey was picked up to play lead for the Stefanie Lawton rink. She would find success on that team as well. While they failed to win the provincial championship that year, they did qualify for the 2008 Canada Cup of Curling, which they won. Danielle Sicinski (born November 30, 1982) is a Canadian curler from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She currently plays lead on Team Penny Barker.
