2018 National Rugby Championship
The 2018 National Rugby Championship was the fifth season of the top flight of Australian domestic rugby union. The competition began on 1 September and concluded on 27 October. Matches were broadcast on Fox Sports and the championship featured eight professional teams, seven from Australia and one from Fiji. The Fijian Drua won their first NRC title, defeating reigning champion side by 36–26 in the grand final held at Churchill Park in Lautoka. The Drua secured home ground advantage in the final by winning the minor premiership for the regular season and then beating in their semifinal. Queensland Country defeated the Western Force in the other semifinal to progress to the grand final. Fijian Drua also finished the season as winners of the Horan-Little Shield for 2018. Chris Whitaker
Chris Whitaker (born 19 October 1974) is an Australian professional rugby union coach and former international player. he is head coach of the Sydney Rays in Australia's National Rugby Championship, and the interim head coach of Super Rugby side the New South Wales Waratahs, Whitaker began his professional playing career in 1997 as a scrum-half for the Waratahs, where he remained for ten seasons. He also played for the Wallabies, but his Test career there was constrained for many years by the incumbent scrum-half and Australian captain, George Gregan. As such, he got minimal international game time but was in the match-day squad for many a year. He captained the Wallabies in a World Cup Match against Namibia in Adelaide in 2003. Sydney Rays
Sydney is an Australian rugby union team that competes in the National Rugby Championship (NRC). Formerly known as Sydney Rays, the team is one of two sides from New South Wales in the competition; the other being the NSW Country Eagles. The current team plays as the all-of-Sydney side in the NRC and wears the traditional blue and yellow colours of Sydney's representative rugby teams. Paddy Ryan (born 9 August 1988) is an Australian rugby union player who plays as a tight-head prop. Ryan played eight seasons for the New South Wales Waratahs, where he surpassed one hundred caps in Super Rugby. He was also capped for the Australian national team. Darren Coleman
Darren Coleman (born 1973) is an Australian professional rugby union coach. He is currently head coach of the New South Wales Waratahs. Family and early life Coleman grew up in Kempsey on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, where he played rugby for the Kempsey Cannonballs team, before moving south to play in the Sydney club rugby competition. His younger brother Scott Coleman also became a professional rugby coach, appointed to Italian club Benevento in 2013. Senirusi Seruvakula (born 12 November 1969) is a Fijian rugby union coach. He is currently the Head Coach of the Fiji women's national rugby union team. Rugby career Seruvakula played for the Brothers Rugby Club in Brisbane for seven years. He made only one international appearance for Fiji in 2002 against Samoa. Ben Hyne (born 7 March 1994) is an Australian rugby union footballer who currently plays as a lock or loose forward for the in the international Super Rugby competition. Domestically, he turns out for in the National Rugby Championship. Early career A Queenslander by birth, Hyne was raised in Rockhampton, but attended school at Downlands College in Toowoomba. The Canberra Vikings, formerly the Canberra Kookaburras, is an Australian rugby union football team that competes in the National Rugby Championship (NRC). The team is based at Viking Park in Wanniassa, and is backed by the Tuggeranong Vikings Group as the licence holder, with the Brumbies and University of Canberra as non-financial partners.
