2018 NHK Trophy
The 2018 NHK Trophy was the fourth event of six in the 2018–19 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at Hiroshima Green Arena in Hiroshima on November 9–11. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Skaters also earned points toward qualifying for the 2018–19 Grand Prix Final. Entries The ISU published the preliminary assignments on June 29, 2018. ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of single skating, men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. Pair Skating
Pair skating is a figure skating discipline defined by the International Skating Union (ISU) as "the skating of two persons in unison who perform their movements in such harmony with each other as to give the impression of genuine Pair Skating as compared with independent Single Skating".S&P/ID 2021, p. 109 The ISU also states that a pairs team consists of "one Woman and one Man". Pair skating, along with men's and women's single skating, has been an Olympic discipline since figure skating, the oldest Winter Olympic sport, was introduced at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London. The ISU World Figure Skating Championships introduced pair skating in 1908. Like the other disciplines, pair skating competitions consist of two segments, the short program and the free skating program. Maé-Bérénice Méité
Maé-Bérénice Méité (; born 21 September 1994) is a French figure skater. She is the 2011 Ondrej Nepela Memorial champion, the 2016 International Cup of Nice champion, the 2015 Winter Universiade silver medalist, and a six-time French national champion. She has finished in the top six at three European Championships and represented France at the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics. She is currently the 30th highest ranked ladies' singles skater in the world by the International Skating Union following the 2019-20 figure skating season. Jin Yang (; ; born in Harbin) is a Chinese male pair skater. Shane Firus (born February 21, 1994) is a Canadian ice dancer. With his skating partner, Carolane Soucisse, he is the 2018 Four Continents silver medallist. Kirsten Moore-Towers (born July 1, 1992) is a Canadian retired competitive pair skater who competed internationally at the senior level for thirteen seasons from 2009 to 2022. She first achieved distinction partnered with Dylan Moscovitch, winning the 2011 Canadian national title. The two won silver at the 2013 Four Continents Championships, as well as seven medals on the ISU Grand Prix, qualifying to three Grand Prix Finals and finishing fourth at two consecutive World Championships. Kevin Reynolds (born July 23, 1990) is a retired Canadian figure skater. He is the 2013 Four Continents champion, 2010 Four Continents bronze medallist, 2014 Winter Olympics team silver medallist and a six-time Canadian national medallist (2012–14, 2017 silver; 2010, 2016 bronze).
