2018 NCHC Tournament
The 2018 NCHC Tournament was the fifth tournament in league history. It was played between March 9 and March 17, 2018. Quarterfinal games were played at home team campus sites, while the final four games were played at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota. By winning the tournament, Denver received the NCHC's automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament. Format The first round of the postseason tournament features a best-of-three games format. All eight conference teams participate in the tournament. Teams are seeded No. 1 through No. 8 according to their final conference standing, with a tiebreaker system used to seed teams with an identical number of points accumulated. The top four seeded teams each earn home ice and host one of the lower seeded teams. The winners of the first round series advance to the Xcel Energy Center for the NCHC Frozen Faceoff. 2017–18 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Season
The 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season began in October 2017 and ended with the Frozen Four in April 2018. This was the 71st season in which an NCAA ice hockey championship was held, and US college hockey's 124th year overall. Conference realignment The only conference change for 2017-18 was that Notre Dame moved from Hockey East to the Big Ten as an associate member for men's hockey. Mikey Eyssimont
Michael Eyssimont (born September 9, 1996) is an American professional ice hockey forward for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted in the fifth round, 142nd overall, by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. Early life Eyssimont was born on September 9, 1996, in Littleton, Colorado, to George and Nancy Eyssimont. He began playing street hockey after being gifted a pair of rollerblades for his fifth birthday. He began playing ice hockey when he was eight and would continue playing roller hockey in the warmer months until he turned 13. Eyssimont spent his minor ice hockey career with the Colorado Thunderbirds of the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League. Magness Arena
Magness Arena is a multi-purpose collegiate sports arena in Denver, Colorado. It was built from 1997 to 1999 as part of the Daniel L. Ritchie Center, the sports complex at the University of Denver. It is home to the Denver Pioneers ice hockey and basketball teams. It replaces the former DU Arena which was razed in 1997 to make way for the Ritchie Center. Ryan Poehling (; born January 3, 1999) is an American professional ice hockey center currently playing for Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League (NHL). Poehling was drafted 25th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Amateur After playing two seasons at Lakeville North High School, Poehling was drafted first overall by the Lincoln Stars in the 2015 USHL Draft. Grant Hutton (born July 25, 1995) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing for the Bridgeport Islanders of the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL).
