2018 Indiana Hoosiers Football Team
The 2018 Indiana Hoosiers football team represented Indiana University in the 2018 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Hoosiers played their home games at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana. Indiana competed as a member of the East Division of the Big Ten Conference. The team was led by second-year head coach Tom Allen. Tom Allen (American Football)
Thomas E. Allen (born March 14, 1970) is an American college football coach serving as the head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers football team. He was named the 2020 Big Ten Coach of the Year and AFCA Coach of the Year. Allen previously served as the defensive coordinator at Indiana and South Florida. He spent time as an assistant at Ole Miss, Arkansas State, and Drake, among other programs. A native of New Castle, Indiana, Allen also spent six seasons as defensive coordinator and three seasons as the head football coach at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis Early life and education Allen played high school football at New Castle High School in New Castle, Indiana, where his father (also named Tom Allen) was the head football coach. Chris Covington (born January 3, 1996) is an American football linebacker who is a free agent. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He played college football at Indiana. Early years Covington attended Al Raby High School, where he played as a quarterback and defensive back. Ian Thomas (born June 6, 1996) is an American football tight end for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Indiana, and was drafted by the Panthers in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Early life Thomas's mother Martha died due to liver and kidney failure before Thomas was nine. His father died a year later due to a heart attack. College career Thomas graduated from Nassau Community College in 2016, and joined Indiana for his junior year. Thomas played all 13 games during his first year at Indiana, acting as a blocking tight end and recording only three catches. 2018 NFL Draft
The 2018 NFL Draft was the 83rd annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible players for the 2018 NFL season. The draft was held on April 26–28 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas; it was the first draft to take place in an NFL stadium and the first to be held in Texas. Oak Park, Illinois
Oak Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois, adjacent to Chicago. It is the 29th-most populous municipality in Illinois with a population of 54,583 as of the 2020 U.S. Census estimate. Oak Park was first settled in 1835 and later incorporated in 1902, when it separated from Cicero, Illinois, Cicero. Simmie O. Cobbs Jr. (born August 25, 1995) is an American football wide receiver who is a free agent. He played college football at Indiana, and was signed by the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2018. Early years Cobbs attended Oak Park and River Forest High School in Oak Park, Illinois. He originally committed to Purdue University to play college football but changed his commitment to Indiana University. College career As a freshman, Cobbs started all 12 games of the season.
